Residuary messages

Hi all! I'm imrpoving an old mission with sounds, effects, things like that. In the old mission I had some text messages that now are replaced with radio transmissions and new messages with a transcription of the voices. But, somehow, those old messages remain. They don't appear in the triggers and they are not there anymore, but somehow, still appear on the screen. I even tried deleting the old triggers and re-writing them, but, nevertheless, those old screen messages remain. I also tried extending the screen time of the new transcription messages and marking them with the clear view check, so they "cover" the old ones, but it also doesn't work, they are interrupted by the old ghost messages.

Does anyone have any idea of how to get rid of those residuary messages?

Thanks in advance!

ok , I see what is going on, you have taken an older version of this mission that was a TRK file and converted it to a MIZ file == yes ?

so the "new" mission part is playing your new audio etc BUT the olde TRK info is also playing back as well, and thats why it fubared

Did I?? It wasn't supposed to be a TRK!! I'm pretty sure it was a MIZ. But if so... what can I do to solve it?

I tried the usual fix of deleteing the un-neeed folder but it cocked the mission up and removed a bunch of stuff , I would suggest you find an earlier version that is a proper miz file ( if u open it in 7z or something and it does NOT have a track folder inside the miz file then use it and update , or start from scratch)

That is the correct fix, but you should not try to check the mission on the Editor afterwards, because if it employs User Mods that you don't have, it will delete the objects of that Mod ... on this case, the mission uses the "Massun92-Assetpack".  Here is the mission repaired, for the OP to test ... wish ED fixed the editor and it didn't delete things without warning, like I asked here:

You are most welcome 🙂 thanks for the kind words

Now, open your old mission using a software like winrar or 7zip, and then compare it with the updated one, so you will know what are the folders that I eliminated. If you edit your old mission on the ME, and then use it as a basis to create another mission, when you save it, it will keep the track files ... that's how they start to be carried over from mission to mission.

Yes, I noticed that. I don't know why the mission had the track file, but, as I said before, it was an old mission that I'm remaking, but has a lot of effort put into, so I'm really glad you could find a way to solve it (and taught me how to do it in the future).
Big thanks, people!

Well, as you can imagine, it usually is the dumbest thing. As I said, it was an old mission and I was learning how to properly use the ME, so those messages were hiding in the dark between some triggers at the end of the mission. It seems I thought of them and placed them wherever, so in my desperation, yesterday I checked every single trigger until the end, and found them. So sorry, guys. This was all my fault (although I learnt how to get rid of the track files in a mission, so thanks! :D)
