Challenger 2 consistent low damage with APFSDS

Challenger 2's damage with APFSDS are not enough to kill a T-80 or T-90 with only one shot, even when you hit their weak points. During testing, the damage at 200m to a side shot was consistently hitting 90-98% HP max, while other tanks (120mm) are able to kill the same target with 1 shot.

Thanks for the tracks. These tanks don't use the same rounds (Abrams uses M829, Challenger 2 uses L23).

L23 is from the 1980s. 

 

Should be using L27, at least.

I’ve found that the best way to destroy enemy vehicles is to fire the HEAT, I mean HESH round.  The challenger 2 should be using HESH but that’s an another question.  I’ve found using this weapon on the T80 or T90 kills them with one shot.
