XCNuse Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Thankfully DLSS was able to capture this, but after enabling the lower simulation mode after poor performance on Sinai, and coming back in to try this a few nights later, I noticed I was unable to have Jester get an INU alignment because the gyros would never settle down; this was after fast forwarding for an excessive amount of time. I would upload replay but I don't believe it would work in this instance due how the system works. Steps to take to create this issue: 1. Enable the experimental lower simulation mode in special settings. 2. Load into any cold start scenario, connect ground power, set gens to external power. 3. Exhibit gyros going berserk. DLSS image shows the ADI and HSI going said berserk mode. Edited May 27, 2024 by HB_Painter Classification of Bugs and User reports
Sile Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Saw the same with lower simulation mode. And alignment never completed.
IvanK Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Similar, I never got the flashing green light on the INS control panel to indicate full alignment was complete. However after waiting the appropriate time 12+mins, I rotated the INS selector to NAV. Jester then said all is good with the "Primary Synch" call. Selected Primary then Synch the compass system. Heading slaved to correct heading with steady compass/ADI heading readouts and all was then normal.
IvanK Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 A little more info. Asked for a Full alignment. I then jumped in the back to see what was going on. Jester selects INS STBY, Heat light comes on. When the heat light goes out (1:59 elapsed) Jester does nothing. I waited till 4:27 elapsed and manually selected ALIGN. Steady Green light eventually came on. Waited for Flashing green to come on which it did at 10:00 min elapsed. Jester did nothing. Manually seleced NAV. Jester then woke up to report all is good to go with primary synch. CONCLUSION: With Lower Simulation mode in a Full alignment Jester falls asleep after selecting STBY. I tried a BATH alignment and all was working. Jester counseled now awaiting to see if his attitude changes.
GladiatorDPR Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Any ways of correcting this or do we have to do Jesters portion of the alignment on our own with the experimental mode selected?
HB_Painter Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Hey thanks for the reports! Just as a note lower simulation rate can and will introduce new bugs and we are on it to fix those. We will take a look at this
Dominik96 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi, I already fixed locally the bug with HSI and ADI heading oscillating when on low tick rate mode. That fluctuation was making it impossible to align the INS. @IvanK, anytime the steady green light is on when doing BATH or GYRO COMP alignment it's possible to go into NAV (you'll have lower accuracy than when performed full Gyrocompassing though). Probable reason why you could not reach full alignment are these fluctuations. They made the BATH heading way off the true one, that's why the BATH alignment was possible but probably very inaccurate. When syncing the compass panel, magnetic heading from the flux valve is taken as a reference, that's why the heading on the instruments matched the expected one but the INS platform still could be way off. Re Jester falling asleep after turning to STBY, normally once you occupy the back seat Jester is disabled so he won't move anything in the cockpit. But it's possible to force him to do it by previously selecting Crew Contract/Jester Presence/Enable in the Jester menu 2
SgtPappy Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 FYI, for anyone having this issue, the workaround is to cycle the compass mode knob (the one behind the right side of the pilot seat which you usually hold clockwise and the let go of when synching the compass) through all its different modes then synching. Then repeat this cycle over and over again until the ADI and HSI stop oscillating. I do not know how/if this negatively affect navigation capability but it seems to work well enough for now. 2

Thanks, this works but only in single player, on multiplayer I cant never get alignment with the lower simulation rate option on.
andyn Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Had this issue yesterday in multicrew multiplayer. The compass card stabilized as soon as we started taxiing.
malarcky Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 This still happen to me, in MP, BATH aligment never finish.
Dominik96 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 But are the gyros still wobbling or just some alignment issue? There are many possible reasons for a troublesome alignment.
