markturner1960 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 HI, as title, I am finding huge variations in time taken to load all the cockpit and map textures. It can vary within the same mission and theatre on different days. In rare cases, the cockpit textures have not loaded even after 5 or 6 minutes........ Why is this? I have a decent card with 24GB Vram, and a powerful system,,,,, I dont understand the apparent randomness of it and the variation...... Any ideas? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
Q3ark Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I’ve noticed the textures taking longer to load in since the last DCS update, not as long as you’re reporting though, also for me its on any map with any module, I think it’s a core DCS thing.
jimiC Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 finding the same. used to be max 10 seconds for some modules being worse than others, now climbing into the minute + mark to have textures settled and FPS to recover. Seems to be worse in the F4 though

I remember a comment from Bignewy a while ago saying that he'd ask the team to take an extra look at texture loading in particular. He must have done that, they’ve definitely been tweaking things because they’ve made it worse
zildac Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) I concur, texture loading in the F4 is way slower than the other modules, and the other modules are slower than they were around 12-18 months months ago. Around 30 seconds for a complete load in the F4 for me. markturner1960 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 Yeah, since an update in the last few months, I noticed that in all modules, there is an increased time to load teh cockpit textures, tied I guess, to the change noted above. USA_Recon Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Is there any work around for this - I will run the same mission 3x in a row and each time it sits and reloads the same textures. Surprised that isn't cached
