I pulled it out of my rear end. It was just an example of what inputs you would enter into the calculation and what form the solution would take. However I would make the correction that the INS stabilized HUD symbology would be preferable for reference over the back up sight.

Being a pilot is tough, 900 hours training, 9 hours flight prep, 90 minute transit, 90 seconds combat.

Ka-50's targeting system doesn't provide CCIP/CCRP or any other data for aimed bombing. The circle that you see on the HUD is nothing but a fixed sight. So bombing is made exactly like in WWI style- pilot's feel. I'm using the following procedure:

- level flight (or slight dive) at 200-300m AGL;

- max speed;

- I put the circle on the target and steer my helicopter to have the target in the middle of the HUD;

- at the moment the target (visualy) goes (disapears) under my nose (bottom HUD) - bombs away!

Seems to give satisfactory results.

I seem to recall that with the A-10 one day in LockOn I literally got my A$$ blown away deploying Clusters from a low altitude :poster_oops:

Is that modelled in any way in DCS? I have to date never had the urge to deploy them from the Kamov.....more of a 'Snipe-and-Run' kinda pilot.
