Rosie Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Started messing around with the FC3 planes in MP and saw that the SU25A has a ECM pod. Does this thing actually have any use in a MP server or even have some kind of working mechanic? Is it even worth taking up a pylon over a bomb or rocket?
razo+r Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 ECM in DCS prevents other aircraft to get a good lock on you until they are close enough. It also makes you visible to anyone with a radar. So if that is worth it depends on you. I personally rather have other things than these pods. 1

Not fully implemented mechanic, like simulation on signal strength/frequency and all the combination with pod and targeting radar or some more complicated stuff of electronic warfare, but definitely yes it's have impact even in MP match, like described by @razo+r FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen. Soulres Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Its not realistic or modeled its one of the many "Place holder" things. It simply reduces Lock-on range by a small bit. Mayby one day it'll be modeled correctly. Can you use it? Yes. Should you take something else instead? Absolutely. 1

In MP against other players it acts different: - It denies range information - It denies IFF identification - It prevents missiles from pulling lead and thus reducing their effective range Edited July 8, 2024 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Turning the ECM on and off bugs out missiles entirely because of poor coding related to this, thats why ECMs are banned in Satal and other Comp matches. Edited July 8, 2024 by Soulres
