Didn't know there existed manuals for more than two years. Only found out about them reading this forum.

I'm baffled that they haven't made them available throught the launcher. I discovered that DCS had the aircraft manuals, as well as the DCS manual itself, in the game files after 1 year (ONE YEAR!) of playing. And see the message above: 2 years! And we're not isolated cases...

ED has said several times that the complexity barrier to entry for new players was a problem, that they wanted to make DCS more accessible, they even opened a thread for the community to suggest what should be said on tips that will appear in game (feature to come I guess).

YET they don't even tell people that manuals even exist and are in the game folders! I don't know what to say honestly...

Even better put the manual in the cockpit view like the Phantom. That’s brilliant! Yes you could simply have the manual open on an iPad or something but I find having it right on the screen there to be really convenient. And for players in VR that seems like a must have.

My guess is the reason they aren’t literally linked in the game is people use them outside of running the game itself, on a mobile device. I suppose you could run the game in windowed mode or have two screens if you want to literally have it open while running the game. Maybe that’s not common. The Phantom solution is fantastic though.

That's already possible without the same tech as HB. Both the free A-4E-C and UH-60L community modules have manual available "in the cockpit".

Agreed. Would not only make access to the manuals a whole lot easier, especially for newcomers who are unlikely to comb through the game files, and give the launcher a little more purpose as well.
