It becomes unusable, very slow reaction, game hangs for 30 seconds when scrolling for plane type selection and briefing button. I also reported a separate topic with a mouse movement lag - lot of users have this as well. Something is very wrong with the new UI, I am all for the news but some hotfix is badly needed, guys. 2 ...10 years with dcs...
Rissala Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 It is a coinflip if I can join a server with a lot of people. DCS just freezes and stops responding when trying to join a slot. Performance is absolutely terrible with the map spawn UI.

Good idea, but very odd execution. I wonder if they tested it on public servers with hundreds of slots. 2 ...10 years with dcs...

MoleUK Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 (edited) This is an inconsistent problem that does not appear entirely related to playercount or number of units. Instead, once it starts happening it makes the server unjoinable until after the server resets. So I suspect something is happening mid-mission that breaks it. It also looks like when it breaks, 1 CPU core is getting pegged at 100% load. So maybe the main sim thread is getting stuck. I will note that even when you are able to join and it's working, while looking at role select you get massive stutters whenever a player joins, disconnects or reslots and (presumably) the list of players/slots/spectators refreshes. That's been a problem for years, I don't know if it's related to this new problem but it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if it was. Edited July 14, 2024 by MoleUK 1

This is solving the problem for many people so they can actually get into a slot instead of freezing completely. General performance while choosing slots has definitely gotten even worse, whenever a player joins or disconnects (and maybe reslots) it causes huge stutters. It also looks like when players join or disconnect from an intense server like ECW (possibly only when under heavy load) it's also causing significant stutters in general gameplay. Ruthless7-17 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I just spent 25 minutes trying to get into ECW just now and then didn't even get in, usually if I'm patient long enough I'll eventually get through but every now and then the game just crashes (but not even in a way that triggers the crash report thing).. I might need someone to hold me.
Goetsch Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I've found the latency in MP to be very bad for some of the larger missions. for me a lot of missions that take hours to make, especially multiplayer games for me as well as not being able to play them properly anymore. Firstly, there is a long delay when entering the server to select a plane or change planes, and what annoys me the most is that when bombing, my bombs hit the target accurately but the target is unharmed, and it takes about 30 seconds for the server to give me feedback that the target has been destroyed. Before the DCS 2.9.6.57650 update of ‘Launcher’, ‘Select Role’, ‘AI Ground’ there was no problem at all! such problems, the same tasks ran perfectly, I can 100% rule out a local network or hardware cause, my DCS server has 64G RAM/i5 13500T and the PC I use to play DCS has 128G RAM/14900K/4090. even if I rule out a network cause and use a LAN to connect to the server, there is still a serious latency issue. 1
