Sascrotch Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Just updated to 2.9.6 from 2.8.x so I can fly my new toys in FC24 but upon launching (have rebooted and added the DCS folder to my AV exceptions) I receive the following error: DCS.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point GetDpiForWindow could not be located the dll C:progfiles/Eagle dynamics/DCS World/bin-mt/edWebviewBrowser.dll Not seeing any results for this error on the forum. Currently considering performing a rollback given the lack of other options. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I covered that in my original post. Already tried that. Thanks for the thought tho.
Sascrotch Posted July 16, 2024 Author Posted July 16, 2024 Okay, so I've done a full uninstall and fresh reinstall (2 day download) and get the same error. Of note, I CAN launch the model viewer although it does list errors (if there is relevant interest I can list them) I have removed and then re-added excpetions to c:\program files\eagle dynamics\ (and to c:\program files\eagle dynamics\dcs world just in case) Same result, same error. So much for my fun weekend flying new jets. I only updated from 2.8.x to be able to use FC24 so I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty annoyed. 4 days wasted.

Does 2.8.x revert.bat require W10? Because at this point I'm okay with taking $10usd as a lesson learned and I would frankly rather have a functional game again even if it means I'm outdated (I actually am... way too old for this <profanity>. Seen game companies pull this <profanity> too many times) Edited July 16, 2024 by Sascrotch
Sidesticker Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Sascrotch, have you fixed the problem? I’ve got the same error (GetDpiForWindow) after last update. Even total removing of antivirus was unsuccessful. Yes, I have Win 8.1 but just this summer fully updated DCS was OK Edited December 16, 2024 by Sidesticker
rob10 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Realistically, if you want to use DCS on Win 8.1 you'll likely need to use an older version. It may have worked in the summer, but eventually something was going to change that wasn't supported in W8.1 and it was going to break. I you made it this long after ED officially stopped supporting lower than W10 (which was at least a couple of years ago IIRC) you've done well. You can find instructions various places in the forums on how to roll back to an older version. 1

Fact is that, I have a lot of programs and applications on my C:\ since 2016. So, upgrade to Win 10 will be a real challenge for me for several days (re-installation and fine tuning of programs, drivers etc). I don’t worry about my hardware performance. But if rollback to one of the previous DCS versions will be unsuccessful I will have to upgrade the Windows of course. Thank you for advice anyway) Edited December 17, 2024 by Sidesticker 1
