mytai01 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 When I watch replays of my gun fights with AI plans, the AI planes begin to deviate from the recorded course they flew. The results are that AI planes I shot down do something else than when I fought them and they survive when they shouldn't... rob10 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 That's a long standing known thing. Track files strictly record the inputs and attempt to recreate what happened (it's a debug tool, not a recording tool). It is NOT and is NOT claimed (by ED) to be replay tool. Because of if conditions during when running the track are even slightly different (i.e. a tiny desync vs original or a random condition that doesn't fire the same way) you can end up with completely different results. 2

This is a well known answer, but then, ED shouldn't call it "Replay". Either they should accept that their "Replay" is a failure, or they should rename it "Debug Video". 1
GrafRotz Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Don't stress, the could haves, if it should have, it would have. ED is carrying a ton of outdated stuff with them since the times of... gosh, Flanker maybe? Renaming a f*** button takes two seconds. Two seconds which are better invested in resolving bugs or gaining money. Thats not... well it is, but it is not meant to be offensive against ED, but thats the way things work. The Replay will become a replay again, at least they promised it. Renaming a well known issue to satisfy some and rename it again when resolved is for such an unimportant feature more than unnecessary. I totaly get your point and I would love to argue the same but those two seconds and all the other crap which could be done more nicely should be invested in real problems like fixing memory leaks, clearing up requesting non existent textures which all in all hampers the experience we all want. Leave the button alone, it is a historic reminder and the issues are well known in the community and "reported" to ED. In the future I see a REPLAY, that is rewindable and consistently repeatable. Again, they already promised it! 1
