Oh , you tricky bastar- Mission 7

Loving the chit chat going on between crews, making me a bit homesick really. I have to ask, where the heck are the mortar crews in the hills? I got the East and West (clever hiding alongside the building), but that north crew? Sneaky SOB's or is there are trigger that I miss when trying to find them?

 

Anyway, cheers mate loving it so far, even if I had to skip one mission because it was bugged and wouldn't complete.

Thank you for your kind words, it's greatly appreciated. Lots of hard work and thought went into the cockpit/flight chat throughout the campaign, as i know the Army like to banter each other. Much more of that to come in later missions, with a little joke carried on from somewhere earlier!

 

There have been a number of updates passed to ED for the next patch, to hopefully overcome these breakages.

 

As for the North team, they're not as far north as you may think they are.......  If you get really stuck, reach out on my discord (Fights On Sims) and i'll give you a hint

Cheers mate, popped all three, got the little bit about guardian angels, or something like that and then silence. No report back to Magic available. Flew around a bit to see if there was anything else, but couldn’t spot anything. So I’m officially lost on this one 
 

edit:

 you clever clogs, gotcha! lol what threw me off is a bit of a bug in the game. I was able to destroy a mortar team before I was supposed to even engage them. It twigged when Foggy denied having done anything. I was like you wot mate?

Ha! That’s one I haven’t heard in a while! I’m more Foghorn than Dim.
 

They actually shot at me first as I went out to scout the area, I don’t know if that’s a bug or not.
 

Again, love the chatter. When we flew it was a bit more spicier at times, but we had three crewed, and we mostly chatted about the cute KBR girls that we would take on our flights.

Of course that’s peacetime and not anytime out over there.

 

Anyway, can’t wait to hear what comes next on episode 8.

Thanks buddy. I really wanted to go the true Aircrew route with the banter, but released i'd have to release the campaign as Certificate 18 if i did lol

 

And as for shooting at you, there's always little twists like that IF you put the cab in the wrong battlespace

big hint, what  @Blackhawk163 already kinda stated. I also engaged an enemy team early and the mission did not progress afterwards.

Will mark as spoiler even though i keep it pretty un-detailed...

DO NOT fire upon targets BEFORE you are directed back to WP 4 by WIDOW (JTAC) and get in position. You will get a message roughly saying "spacebar when you find the enemy ... teams" and Dim will give you an "call out your shots".

I tend to find FCR is your friend. Mortars don't make their own way there LOL.

I think that triggering is a bit harsh - maybe one should be able to achive that mission by just killing all targets. It is a bit frustrating that by  'accidentially' finding the targets 'to early' and killing some/them before out and return to wp04 you have to fly the mission again..

The mission SHOULD work out what tgts you hit and what you missed, then pop new accordingly 

 

Also, bare in mind I built this way before FCR was available. Might have to make some amendments

I just completed this mission today with the FCR - and it was great.  Made this mission a piece of cake. Really a great mission to learn how to operate it, and even better...SSS FCR, ACQ SRC as PHS, and use your head to rotate the radar cone to scan your sight line. You can walk yourself over to the target like this.

You take off, fly to wpt 1 while avoiding the nearby airport. From there you navigate  to wpt 2, contact JTAC and patrol the city. Youll get random reports of mortar fire coming from all directions.

You need to sit at the "hiding" WP until you hear from the ground troops. Then Foghorn should tell you what to do.

 

If you're still having problems, please save a track file from the debrief menu when you exit and post in my discord (link is in a forum post on here)

Is there a trigger at said "hiding WP"? I just went five kilometers north,

Yes. You need to go to and hold at, the sneaky WP until told otherwise. The sneaky hold point is in the FP

hey,

first of, i guess you mean as "tasked" - well kind of because Foghorn comes up with the idea so you dont really get tasked by the JTAC but kinda by PC (pilot in command). "as fragged" would refer to the ATO fragment  for the squadron which details missions, targets, etc etc. "as fragged" usually refers to a fragmentary order. In this case playing hide and seek plus whack-a-mole is not a part of the ato i'd assume

now for the part of flying north. iirc and if @Florence201has not changed it in the last weeks, you fly back to WP3 close to a village (wp4 was the target small town iirc). there you turn around and start looking for targets but dont engage. wait till you get a text message/hint telling you to press spacebar when you have visually aquired an enemy team. then Dim will tell you to "call your shots". afterwards iirc you are cleared to creep towards wp4 and s&d the enemy teams.
