DCS OB crashes my computer within 5-15 minutes of gameplay. I run Repair and delete fxo and metashaders2 folders after crashes. Some info:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12Core, dedicated SSD for DCS, Win10, 64GB RAM, NVidia GeForce RXT 3080 Ti, Latest NVidia driver 560.70, Mods removed, crashes in ST and MT, crashes in Instant Action, Create Fast Mission and Multiplayer.

hello. the log you provided has very few lines and does not even show a crash. is there a windows event viewer entry from the time the DCS crashed. it may be a windows issue rather than a DCS issue.

My game has become virtually unplayable since the last 2 updates, I get random freezes and crashes for no consistent reason or game action. Some days I get a few minutes of care free activity then bangs, it freezes and dies.  EVERYTHING is up to date, every other game I play works just fine and rig is very capable, it should play this game like a breeze.  It did play this game like a breeze with loads of mods and complex missions, until recently.

I'm sure lots of people are having a great incident free  experience but there is something wrong with DCS,  look at the threads,  LOTS OF THEM.   2.8 to 2.9 has been something of a disaster.

PS:  No point in sending you my logs, I cant see anything in them to suggest whats wrong or what just happened to cause a crash, just like the post above.

Prior to the resent update, DCS has been working fine. It just crashed on me again after 10 min in Create Fast Mission. Please see if this file shows anything. Everything else with my system has been running fine, except DCS. I did notice a pause on my monitor when going from F1 (cockpit view) to F10 (map view). It's never paused like that. I almost thought it was going to crash then, but did about 3 minutes later.

Edit: If it makes a difference. Right after the update, I purchased the FC3 upgrade and the F-86 (high fidelity) mod.

Before the previous update, DCS was unplayable for me for about 2-3 months. It wouldn't crash, but the video was so terribly laggy it would drive me nuts. Then finally an update fixed it. So I've had about 4 months of payable enjoyment. I have only been on the Open Beta version. I'm thinking to move to the stable version.

Edit: I didn't realize it, but there is no more stable version. Well, that blows.

The next time DCS crashes my computer, where do I look to get information about what and why it happened?

look in Saved Games\DCS\LOGS. DCS.LOG is the file you should share. if that is incomplete, check windows event viewer in Application log. look through that log for the date / time it crashed.

It was going good for a while, then just crashed.

hello. this log is better. i see a few things.

2024-08-07 12:05:48.348 ERROR   VISUALIZER (14416): Failed assert `!(DLSS_Enable && globalMSAA != render::MSAA_OFF)` at Projects\Visualizer\Source\smSceneManager_Common.cpp:2437

2024-08-07 12:05:48.348 ERROR   VISUALIZER (14416): Uncompatible graphics options DLSS_Enable & MSAA, reset MSAA = OFF

for this i suggest you find Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\config\options.lua, rename to options.bak and then retry DCS.

then at the very last line of the log

2024-08-07 14:00:21.419 ERROR   DX11BACKEND (14416): DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0006

for this is suggest totally removing graphics driver with DDU. then download and install latest driver.

this could also mean a bad graphics card. hopefully not.

Update:

After some YT browsing, I followed this (link below) instruction on DDU and clean video driver install and chipset reinstall (AMD processors/mother board). No crashes so far.

Had to do this as well after a previous update. Except, I had to revert the video driver.

All was going well for about a week, then this morning about 5 minutes in on DCS a computer crash as before. Are there any good diagnostic tools or stress tests to check the health of a graphics card?

you can go into the nvidia control panel and change it to debug mode. this will take off an overclock including factory oc.

stress test.
