Calvin.Pimax Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Hey @jaydee Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for spotting. However, BigNewy might have some input, as he has a Crystal for testing purposes.

warmachine79 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 What do you mean with regard to "spotting"? Spotting planes? Are there specific settings to consider? I would have thought if you just max out, spotting is fine. However, I noticed a bug but not have been able to reproduce it. With DLSS enabled and some settings, planes that have been far away and would have been little, hardly spottable dots became quite greyish chunks. That was not very immersive, but yet somewhat...helpful.
Slippa Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I just read some great advice about settings but I’m not a pilot that uses VR. I tend to talk quite a bit too and can write long posts at times which may or may not help. Some people like a bit of chit-chat, some just want hard answers without the niceties. A lot of things you learn while you’re not looking to learn but learn along the way. Even bumping your thread could get someone’s attention so don’t always knock it. Good luck in your journey towards a better VR experience. As an old Jedi once said “Use the force, look”.

Thanks Calvin ~S~ I'm so sorry that I was posting a friendly anecdote - but the forum provides a very simple solution and I can guarantee you won't be hearing from me again, now I know what your attitude is. =DROOPY= Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 @jaydee Here's my settings. I'm reasonably happy with them. For ex: Last night I flew a setup where had to get visual and execute a daytime rendezvous on a -135. I started looking in the general area where he should have been while still at about 15mi out, and I was able get visual. He was faint enough against the clouds that I did lose him momentarily, while I switched the radar to STBY, but was able to reacquire shortly after. I've attached screenshots and my trackfile for the Hornet/Farmer Instant Action AFG. If you need additional info, let me know and I'll try to help best I can. Massifontana Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) I'm having the same problem here , Once I started playing the MigKIllers Campaign I noticed that even with spy-glass zoom I was unable to see contacts at certain distances, what left me surprised is that pausing the game and lifting the headset over my forehead, I started looking at my Monitor where the VR was mirrored and the contacs were CLEARLY VISBLE! without unpausing the game, tryed to put my head set on again and focusing with spyglass zoom I started to see a sort of vague stain that would have never catched my eyes.. I've tried disabling the MSAA but honestly didn't see much improvement, aside from the image quality degradation... Honestly it's a bit upsetting investing in a High Res HMD as the Crystal and be forced\adviced to lower the image quality (disabling AA) to spot bogeys.. In my quad view setting I've set the sharpness to 100% and in the DCS menu I setted the LOD to 2, but dunno if these settings are geting the situatuin worse in my case.. Massifontana Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 this is the VR mirror acquisition of a training mission I made.. (externals views are acquired in 2d from the replay track file with standard 2D high quality settings) but all you see from the F1 views are from the VR, as U can see at 1:00 with SPYGLASS ZOOM I start to see a tiny dot in the middle of the view, You can see it but only cos you're looking it through a 2d view, in the VR lenses it's almost impossible to see it..
Nodak Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Haven't tried it in DCS yet but another air combat sim setting the vertical offsets both +1.8 will make the displays resolution square, nearly equal pixel wise. Instead of running 12 million plus pixels at 3235x3826 with res set at 75% it's now running nearly the same pixels at 3536x3538 res now set at 82%. I find the display superior in everything including spotting, and its carrying the same load. The image isn't distorted one bit, same display area and same field of view. Only thing you may notice is the black border moved slightly down from the top, but your going to have to hunt to see it.
