A.F. Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Hi, Does anyone know anything about the Bf- 109 with the propeller blade adjustment? I have the following problem: when I start the plane hot from the runway, the propeller pitch indicator turns slowly to the left. When I take off, the clock is at 10:30. The plane picks up speed wonderfully and I quickly reach 500 kmh. However, when I start the engine cold, the position indicator remains at 12.30 on take-off. It then only goes down to 11.30 on cruise. However, the plane doesn't get up to speed at all. Something is wrong! The switch for the automatic system is set to "Automatic". I have no more ideas. Can anyone help me?
grafspee Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 In cold start automatic governor is off, you need to switch it on 1 System specs: I7 14700KF, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, Gigabyte RTX 4090,Win 11, 48" OLED LG TV + 42" LG LED monitor
A.F. Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 Thank you very much for your answer! Yes, I'm sure that the automatic is set to automatic, otherwise the blade pitch would not go down until 11.30 am. But it just stays there, while it goes down further when the plane is hot started. I have really done everything: slow throttle, max 1.25 ata, fast throttle.... Is it important for the pitch control that the engine is really warm? It doesn't really have anything to do with it. vor 12 Stunden schrieb grafspee: In cold start automatic governor is off, you need to switch it on
Gadreel Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) Try using the Propeller Pitch Rocker Switch. If this changes the clock setting you are in manual mode. If not you are in auto mode. In auto mode the clock should be changing all the time unless u are flying with constant parameters. If you are actually in auto mode and don't pick up speed check gear, flaps and make sure cooling is in auto mode. You could also check the circuit breakers. Edited August 8, 2024 by Gadreel
Art-J Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Might as well check if "game flight mode" (or whatever it's called nowadays) is turned on by accident. In simulation flight mode prop automation should work the same in cold- and hot-started missions. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
A.F. Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) No game flight mode, all circuit breakers checked Here are two tracks. hot - spawned with the engine running cold - just cold I hope you can see the difference. cold.trk hot.trk Edited August 8, 2024 by A.F.
Art-J Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) @A.F. Couldn't investigate your tracks closer without my gear plugged in, but at first glance there seems to be nothing in-your-face-obviously-wrong in breakers and switches setup in both of them. That's pretty strange indeed. I flew 109 only once in 2.9.6, but I don't remember if it was before or after hotfix. Prop worked allright, however, cold started and all... For now, why not trying the standard DCS troubleshooting drill: a) Disabling / temporary removal of all custom mods incl. the ones in Saved Games ('cause repair and cleanup doesn't affect them). Even mods which are supposedly unrelated to 109; b) Run slow repair and cleanup procedure; c) If repair doesn't help, (even though it should in theory) - reinstall the 109. Let's see what happens then. P.S. - Last minute thought - have you tried testing the prop mechanism before engine startup, as the procedure in the module manual suggests? I don't think it should matter at all, but who knows... I do it as a habit and as I said, never had prop problems so far. grafspee Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I just took K-4 for a ride and i didn't notice that, everything was as usual, no stuck blade pitch indicator during take off. Well, unfortunately it's not like that for me. It's like in the tracks. Hot start works - cold start doesn't. Is there anyone else out there who can help me? What I have done so far: - no mods - module uninstalled/installed - long repair - with take off assistant - without take off assistant - at start 12 o'clock manually, after take off automatically (ata 1.3), display goes from 12 o'clock to 12.30 o'clock @BIGNEWYcould you help me? A.F. Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 Here are two new tracks. I set the pitch manually to 12 o'clock at the start and then switched to "automatic" after take-off. You can really see what happens! hot_at start man 12 cold_at start man 12 cold_at start man 12.trk hot_at start man 12.trk
grafspee Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 @A.F. I can see your issue on tracks, thing is that when i hop in to K4 in my own mission or multiplayer server I can't replicate it. Everything looks normal then. System specs: I7 14700KF, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, Gigabyte RTX 4090,Win 11, 48" OLED LG TV + 42" LG LED monitor
