It slows to a halt while zooming around and looking at the panels.

it slows to a halt if the external view is selected.

The crash is only released using task manager and force closing DCS.

Sometimes it produces the black screen of death as well.

The crash seems consistent.

Mig I’ve been having all of this too.

I ran a long repair and it seems to have helped some. I don’t think it’s fixed but it has improved. You should give it a try?

Good luck with it, I know it’s no fun at all.

Hi your system is on the low end so it maybe worth reducing settings, some tuning tips are below.

But also a good idea to delete metshader2 and fxo folders in saved games dcs, restart dcs and try a single player mission to rebuild shader

Ensure all drivers and windows are up to date.

RAM 15791 MB
Pagefile 27648 MB
Preload Radius 60000
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Tuning Tips

Set Preload Radius to max. 30000.
Set Textures to Medium.
Turn down Anisotropic Filtering.
Disable civil traffic.
Turn off Terrain Object Shadows.
Decrease Terrain Textures.
Enable Full Screen mode.
Decrease Visib Range to Medium or Low.
Turn off TAA.
Set Water to Low.
Set Shadows to Flat.
Turn off SSAO.
Set Clouds to Standard.
Turn off SSLR.

Thanks- I have already deleted the metshader2 and fxo files but the recommended settings for the graphics have done the needed - the CH-47 is butter smooth and no CTDs. I imagine this would improve performance for any module. Perhaps this could be a way to solve the low FPS others have been experiencing. The settings as they were - were never touched by me since I first acquired DCS years ago. Perhaps my vintage 2021 gaming laptop is getting a bit old. 😄

Good to hear it solved the crash.

Settings vary between systems if you have a strong system you can crank up the settings and adjust to the fps target you want to hit, personal presence vary between performance and quality vary between users.

Lowering settings is a good idea on a low end system.

thank you

Checkout this Thread. It helped me to set the Textures to Medium. Could not see a difference.

I will also try to reduce the panelgraphic size. Loading the Flight takes ages. Especial the "World Preload 1/60"
