Migparts Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) It slows to a halt while zooming around and looking at the panels. it slows to a halt if the external view is selected. The crash is only released using task manager and force closing DCS. Sometimes it produces the black screen of death as well. The crash seems consistent. Migparts Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 Works better without the guns installed, still CTDd when attempting to taxi. LastMissionTrack.trk George

Slippa Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Mig I’ve been having all of this too. I ran a long repair and it seems to have helped some. I don’t think it’s fixed but it has improved. You should give it a try? Good luck with it, I know it’s no fun at all. 1
Migparts Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Okay - yes i will do it. I have done this previously though, but I will repeat. I have had one more freeze now. Can ED discern anything bad going on from my logs? dcs.log George
ED Team Solution BIGNEWY Posted August 13, 2024 ED Team Solution Posted August 13, 2024 Hi your system is on the low end so it maybe worth reducing settings, some tuning tips are below. But also a good idea to delete metshader2 and fxo folders in saved games dcs, restart dcs and try a single player mission to rebuild shader Ensure all drivers and windows are up to date. Migparts Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) Thanks- I have already deleted the metshader2 and fxo files but the recommended settings for the graphics have done the needed - the CH-47 is butter smooth and no CTDs. I imagine this would improve performance for any module. Perhaps this could be a way to solve the low FPS others have been experiencing. The settings as they were - were never touched by me since I first acquired DCS years ago. Perhaps my vintage 2021 gaming laptop is getting a bit old. dcs.log Edited August 13, 2024 by Migparts 1 George

Settings vary between systems if you have a strong system you can crank up the settings and adjust to the fps target you want to hit, personal presence vary between performance and quality vary between users. Lowering settings is a good idea on a low end system. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? AhSoul Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Might be the texture drop to medium that's the important one? There's another thread saying the cockpit textures are massive and dropping to medium helped for now. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread
dahui Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) Checkout this Thread. It helped me to set the Textures to Medium. Could not see a difference. I will also try to reduce the panelgraphic size. Loading the Flight takes ages. Especial the "World Preload 1/60" Edited August 13, 2024 by dahui correction 1
Slippa Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Nice one, glad you’re sorted. I’ll have another go at lowering some settings too. Butter smooth is a long distant memory at the minute.
