Doing a repair didn't fix it.

[edit] I checked to see what version I have and yes, it indeed version 5, not 7, and yet the version 7 thinks I have 7 already:

Click Windows icon, start typing pow...and you should see a seperate icon to launch PS7, they can coexist

That worked. I didn't realise version 7 was it's own program. I was right-clicking in the folder were the script is and launching Powershell from there and didn't have version 7 as an option in the right-click menu.

hmm, is this working for anyone after today's DCS patch? I am stuck with an empty Temp folder. I've followed the correct steps, but it seems hung for me.

EDIT: disregard, I just needed to wait 10 minutes for it to start processing files. I guess its related to the exception file logic that must be running at the start.

Run yesterday's DCS patch (allegedly).

I did. Only assets from Caucasus gets optimised. Funnfact though. I now have optimised cows.

Sadly only cows are optimizable without loosing quality. You could make medium terrain textures with this script if you really wanted tho, just need to adjust the whitelists

If you don't use a mod manager for it then absolutely yes.

If you use a mod manager not really. Ideally yes, if you don't experience any problems then no need though.

It would depend on if ED/3rd parties releases new textures too I gather?

I initially had some empty folders pop up after running the script.
However, after I grabbed the correct Powershell version (x64 in my case), it properly handled all files it found (no empty folders from what I can see).

 

Results are quite promising:
The actual FPS in this MP mission hasn't changed much, but the microstutters are significantly reduced.
I guess it was previously asking just a bit too much VRAM from my RX6800.

Interesting, so it did not work on a 32-bit Powershell 7.4?

Yeah, i recommend using visual studio code to edit it.

How is your guys performance after the recent update? I'm experiencing some issues and i don't know if it's due to this mod, as ED changed how VRAM is managed in the last update.

I'm not seeing any issues, in fact performance is generally better and I re-ran the mod after a clean/repair and update.

I think the root cause of the issue was my GPU driver acting up, i had memory errors happen about 2-3 times since I bought this card and DDU fixes it every time, I hope it isn't dying.

 

I've uninstalled process lasso because I thought multicore finally behaves normal but apparently nope, above normal priority and unchecking some of your cpu cores is still increasing performance. (In my case CPU0, 11 cores remaining for DCS)

 

I'm gonna add things one by one to see if there's any issues, thanks for letting me know that this script doesn't cause any problems.

So far so good. I have a fresh 63GB MOD file. 

On a site note I am happy because I can install and uninstall the MOD in seconds using SLAM.

Did some quick testing, and the main map has some weird black areas... anyone knows why ? Will test other maps as well

@zbysiek Thank you. Tried it, and like you said. Made a mess of the ground textures. I did get 10-20% better frames and small reduction in VRAM usage. It just not worth it unless one knows exactly what files to compress i guess.
