The R27R and ER lose track when you enter memory mode from reaching the gimbal limit of the radar and the missile is trashed.

Before last patch, the missile would start tracking again if you reacquired the target with the radar before memory mode times out and lock is lost.

If you perform the same test with the F15C Aim7MH the missile will still track like the R27s used to before the patch.

The Mig29 behaves the same as the flanker so i will report this in both weapon and Fc3 bug sections because i am unsure whether it's an issue with the missiles or the radars.

In addition, the F-18 can guide a sparrow to impact while in gimbal memory mode so there is inconsistency.

How is this even possible? AIM-7 has no data-link, plus SARH missiles need target illumination for terminal guidance.

It is a bug of the 18. It should not be allowed.

Memory mode currently works on the Mig-29 when not entered from gimbal limits. (IE target maneuvering)

Memory mode does not work when gimbaled.

This also works for the Flanker. If a target notches you, you enter memory mode and you reacquire it the missile is not trashed.

well a few days ago i tested aim 7mh and f on f15c.fire the missile break the lock then lock the target again...it tracks but do the same with r27...it doesnt matter how fast you lock the target again the missile will be trashed

This is correct and intended. Pressing unlock cancels the pseudo CW emission that the missile guides off the reflection of. Only if it reacquires within the 3.5 sec memory time can it do this, or if system switches to IRST mode within 15 km so IRST guide the pseudo CW emission of the radar. Which I think must be a bug, as there is no reason to limit it to 15 km.

You said "Only if it reacquires within the 3.5 sec memory time can it do this"...well I lock the target inside 2 seconds with my r27 and it still doesn't track...also I counted to 5 while testing aim 7 and they could still track...

Was this “lock the target inside 2 seconds” after manually unlocking or exceeding gimbal limits?

Whatever AIM-7 does has no bearing on R-27R/ER

It was after unlocking the target and exceeding gimbal limit...even if I go over gimbal for a fraction of a second the missile is done for...it doesn't have memory mode anymore

I am just saying what ED has said, the memory mode is meant to continue R-27R/ER guidance when activated and lock regained inside gimbal limits. Whether there are documents that show this is how it should work in reality or not, the memory does work, just not when exceeding gimbal limits.
