hey yo.

Never posted a crash log as I haven't had much issues with DCS. Last time it was a mod so not sure what to post. But since the update today DCS crashes constantly. just curious is someone could look at these and give me a hint. Not sure what the issue is.dcs.log

I've run your DCS log file through the DCS log analyser. I'd definitely try removing your mods and running a slow repair as mods are frequently broken with new DCS updates. Start with the mods first and then try the other options. When performing the slow repair make sure you add an exclusion to your anti-virus software (Windows Defender if you don't have anything else) for the entire DCS game installation folder and then restart your PC.

If it starts working with the mods removed then add each one back in individually and starting the game to narrow it down to which one is breaking things.

If it resolves itself after renaming the Saved Games\DCS folder, then you can copy back your config and control bindings from the renamed folder back into the new saved games folder DCS creates for you.null

Thanks for having a look. I will try as u suggest. I ran a cleanup and a repair. It found several skins and my reshade settings. I forgot I have hercules and uh-60. I can remove those for a spell and test.

It's possible it's server side. Crashing on Grayflag. Usually when I select JTAC/Observer.

The Catch is that C-130 and UH-60 are required on that server so I doubt it's those mods as no one else is complaining. I took em out, but that means ironically I can't test cause I can't join without em lol. I just threw some more ram in, 32 to 64 now. Still crashed when I hit JTAC/Observer slot. Suspicious.

Sidenote: Hey ED what r u doing to us over here lol? When I started to play DSC in 2020 I had 16gigs and it was fine. Then I bumped it up to 32 18months ago. Now I've gone to 64gb. Maybe optimize the game? Yer killin us! I load into a server and watch task manager. It says the damn thing is using 42gigs of memory? wtf.

UPDATE: So confused. Everything seems to work. Done several repairs, and cleanups, took the mods (C-130 + UH-60) out, took out the skins, took out Reshade. Played single player mission in the viper. no issue fer.

Put the c-130 and Uh-60 back in. Played on Grayflag - Syria for an hour in the Viper with no issue. Landed, released the slot and went to choose JTAC\Combined arms slot and crashed.

I dropped the zip file from the crash into the log analzyer, results below re: possible crash issue with overclocking. Can't confirm if root cause. The dxdiag.txt file in there shows app hangs for DCS, as well as a couple for SR-RadioClient.exe which will be SRS. Aside from the memory overclock I'm not seeing a 100% smoking gun.

This! I reach 58GB with TTI Sinai SP, 35GB with fast mission (med. units) , memory and disk usage is out of control.

Have not seen this. Sure you are not looking at "Allocated/committed" memory, and not actual used memory by the specific possess.

I look at the process memory usage and free RAM left from any source than windows 10 useless task manager (that displays wrong values https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/performance/task-manager-display-incorrect-memory-info ) , reaching 50GB while standing C&D is a bit too much, don't you think?

I will do some tests later on my own system, but this might be a memory leak or a HUGe mission.

Is this in multiplayer or SP?

Can you post a screenshot of your graphics settings? ( If taken in launch, remove your username on top right)

And do you have the Miz file you are running?

There may have to be a replacement bus service. 😐 🚂

Slippa that wont work - I have tried that the Ai buses get lost and confused on a round trip.

@Kanelbolle : SP , this is mission https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331362/  , or any DCS "create fast mission" with medium-high units and with this settings

mem4.jpg

Since the last updates I've had to lower preload radius from 80km to 50km, shadows from default to flat and MSAA from 4x to 2x, but still huge memory usage with high number of units... And stutters when they explode! It doesn't crash because of a big pagefile.sys, but often it hangs for minutes, even while generating fast missions.

I believe the high amount of RAM that is used is the textures in VRAM being to big and therefore moved to RAM.
I am not saying that DCS should use this much VRAM, but it is what it is...

You can easely test this yourself by just pressing the "Low" preset and starting DCS. I got it down to 6 GB VRAM and 15 GB RAM.

So i suggest for a solution, you play around with your settings to get the VRAM usage lower.. Textures.. etc..

For the stutters this might be caused by lack of RAM or some other issue.. but.. whould just try the LOW preset first and see if it continues.

In addition to this it can also be worth doing a Windows repair from time to time to make sure the underlying OS is still sane. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e

Naaah, no need to SFC with winupdates and drives scheduled optimisation disabled (the two more probable cause of corruption), if the console reports no errors it's better leave the ugly beast as it is.

I see little difference with textures set to low: 8GB less usage, same long loading time, same 60 fps, lower quality.

mem5.jpg

What's eating all the RAM? Maybe I should refresh .Net and C++ libraries?

Nvidia control panel - cuda sysmem fallback maybe set to "on" instead of prefer no sysmem fallback?

Well, no crashes today. Played about 4hrs on Grayflag with several diff modules. In and out of Combined Arms too.

Cautiously hopeful.

i did change my ram xmp to default and played a bit. Seemed fine. Ran memtest, cinebench, scandisk, SFC

All good.

Then put the xmp back on and it was fine for hours. Maybe it was the hotfix? I don’t know what the “F10 map bug “actually was?

1 or maybe 2 of those crashes shown in the op screenie were while flying, but the rest were def whilst re-slotting on the map. More testing. it always seemed to crash when I hit release slot and then select Jtac on the server.

Today there was no issue, but I never hit the release slot button today.

Well, that one is funny: I followed your suggestion, mem usage was the same but with the AH-64, over high density areas and video feed turned on, GPU usage went from 100% to 80% and stutters are gone.

DCS 2.9.3.51704 "Terrain scenery performance: optimized instancing and improved and optimized streaming." could be the cause of more RAM needs?

After all i read about this setting it seems it's useless for gaming. It's a feature for ai and so on. On my rig i've set it to "no sysmem fallback" and after the last update DCS is runnin very smooth even with hags enabled.
