topol-m Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Does anyone know if the F-15`s MFD supports different modes? It seems it has a lot of buttons around it that in game we don`t really use. If it has other functions why haven`t they been implemented in the game? I thought ED were modelling only aircraft that they have enough info about. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mugenjin Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Lock On was not a real 'study' flight sim and it's fairly old. Anyway the MFD doesn't have different modes in Lock On, dunno how it's in reality. Afaik their policy of modelling only aircraft they have enough info about applies to their newest creation: the DCS series.

Hahah topol :D I think overall Lo doesn't have avionics at all :) Only small fragments of them. It is only a bit better than pure shooter what did u expect :P Edited May 27, 2009 by Boberro grammar Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Mustang Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 One mode that i wish was correctly modelled in LO :music_whistling: 1
Pilotasso Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Yap!!! Thats "THE MODE" I would like to see. ;) 1 .
Geier Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 In case of modelling AN/APG-70 there should be http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=23751 1
topol-m Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Hahah topol :D I think overall Lo doesn't have aavionics at all :) Only small fragments of them. It is just a bit better than pure shooter what did u expect :P Well lets just hope its not gonna be this way with DCS: A-10 and next :( One mode that i wish was correctly modelled in LO :music_whistling: Pretty useful mode indeed. Why don`t we have it? Hmm, i assume our aircraft is the white triangle in the centre of the MFD, than how is it able to show targets that are on the side or behind our aircraft? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mustang Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Perhaps through Datalink? Yep, that's datalink alright ;) My guess it may have been left out in sake of gameplay balance :D
topol-m Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Is the F-15 able to recieve such data from other fighters or just from an AWACS? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Total Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Ironhand said it best in the TWS Mode tutorial at flankertraining. The variant of the AN/APG-63 is five generations behind current techonology. The newer variants of the radar are pahased array and the display (MFD) has changed as well. Of course to model that in would mean modeling everything else in the current models into the game as well ;)

Of course to model that in would mean modeling everything else in the current models into the game as well ;) We are aware of that. We want the aircraft that are in the game to be modelled correctly and in detail, not their latest modifications that will further unbalance the gameplay. I think the picture Mustang provided is of an early F-15`s MFD - the one thats in the game. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Well lets just hope its not gonna be this way with DCS: A-10 and next :( It probably won't happen again - producer learned its mistakes in past. 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Total Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 The MCDP was not installed into the F-15C until a major retrofit in the 1990's. This also included an upgraded PACS. My guess is that ED had the technical data on the early variants of the F-15C, but used a photo of a later version to model the cockpit. The original "MFD" was monochrome only.
borchi_2b Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 also from other fighters, that what link16 is all about http://www.polychop-sims.com
topol-m Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 also from other fighters, that what link16 is all about Which versions of F-15 have link16 and do those that don`t use it have some datalink capabilities? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
