JupiterJoe Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 (edited) When I have an asymmetric loadout, I find I cannot neutralize roll with trim. Is this a bug? Wouldn't Roll SAS dampen this out? It should be noted that I use a M/S Sidewinder FFB2 stick. @IronMike Edited November 26, 2024 by JupiterJoe Intel Core i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz - 64GB RAM - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 - Microsoft Sidewinder Force-feedback 2 - Virpil Mongoose CM-3 Throttle
Despayre Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Can you give us a specific loadout you're having trouble with? I haven't noticed that problem myself. I'm not updating this anymore. It's safe to assume I have all the stuff, and the stuff for the stuff too.

Do you use FFB? Every asymmetric layout. Any loadout with a LAINTIRN as an example, but there are many more. The aircraft rolls right/left but is never fully neutralised with trim. Nealius Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I haven't noticed this either with the LANTIRN. I'm usually able to trim her for hands-off orbits in the CASE I marshal. Granted I am holding a bit of rudder to maintain that so perhaps there's some Dutch roll aiding the trim in that situation. The only payload I find difficult to trim--and handle in general--is TARPS.

JupiterJoe Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 (edited) Yes @draconus, AP locks the attitude. I'm wondering if this inability to neutralise roll is specific to me (a worn FFB stick perhaps). It feels like Roll SAS isn't working. draconus Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Is it excessive? Like 1 degree/s or way less? Maybe you're expecting the trim to allow you prolonged hands-free flight while it's not its job at all. You cannot neutralise roll at all. I've even tried putting in a little rudder trim. You must make constant adjustments. If that's just the way it is in real flying then fine, but the guy above said he doesn't experience it and I don't seem to remember this being an issue with a spring-loaded joystick. These issues may be specifically related to (perhaps just my) FFB. Do you have FFB? Perhaps it's connected to the AP switch not disengaging when Roll SAS is off. Clutching at straws, I know. In other news: Altitude Hold loses integrity at exactly 40 degrees wing sweep, anywhere above 15k feet.
