draconus Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Do any of you experience bad artifacts with Rift S recently? I don't mean the usual ones behind the moving objects like aircraft wings or tail - I mean big areas of sky or sea blinking at peripheral vision or bad artifacts of ships (like distorted copy of it nearby) on the water at center of the view. You won't see it on screenshots or mirror. I pinpointed the issue to the ASW - when I turn if off in Oculus debug tool all was fine then (apart from stuttering that is). PD 1.0-1.5 all the same. DLAA and MSAAx4 the same. Oculus/Meta software v62 and 69 the same. Need to try other nvidia drivers yet. Lange_666 Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) Not here. No extra artifacts. I need to run OpenXR in Turbo Mode though to prevent it from stuttering in MT. It ran fine without Turbo Mode in ST but in MT it is mandatory to get it stutter free with ASW. Although Turbo sets ASW to OFF according to the red message but if i set ASW to ON with Turbo Mode ON, FPS is limited to 40 so there is something is still don't understand. According to the message in OpenXR, ASW should be turned OFF and then my FPS should go up to 80 which it never does. I guess it's like that with the new card. I didn't have problems of that kind with 970 or 3060. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Rift S T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

It just might not work very well with motion reprojection. However, I did use both at the same time without any detrimental effect. (At least I didn‘t notice any). Phantom711 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) A 4090…but before you say it…I still run into ASW occasionally, especially over the Mariannas. Also, as for you original post, yes, those artifacts over the sea or in the sky occur with ASW. I‘ve had this ever since I have the QuestPro for about a year now. I was simply pointing out, that turning on Turbo mode on OXRTK will not turn off ASW. EDIT: Sorry if my answer was misleading in that regard. With turbo mode and asw on i get massive tearing in VR. For example - external view - antennas etc. are "washed" during motion. i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4
Phantom711 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 @LOW_Hitman I would have to recheck. Maybe I always just thought this was due to ASW itself. I believe I have Turbo off at the moment, though. 1 vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
draconus Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 I don't use OXRTK. It's choose your poison situation. Either artifacts with ASW or double vision effect without ASW. Time to move up from this HMD. Hope there are no such problems with other ones but for Quest 3 it's the same software so idk.
