During Mission 6 when Tiger 21 is shot down, as he goes down he initially orbits south west and then goes east, the problem with that is he goes down in game closer to the southern Marina than the northern one, which is confusing as heck, when you get the call about the technical ...  is there anyway you can have him extend further due west before he goes  in , that way he would actually be closer to the northern marina?

Really poignant!

great Mission!

Glad you like it! Though I am hesitant to touch anything, making him behave as he does now took several hours of trial and error.. if it works, let it work :)

understood, perhaps the other thing you could do... is remove the boats from the southern marina, that way it doesn't look like a marina 😉

Agree completely.

When he went down I tracked his parachute and it was near the southern marina. I kept looking around there for the target technical and other action but never found it for obvious reasons. It was jarring when I understood he had "teleported" to the other end of the lake and that I needed to have been looking over there.

I don't have any control over where he lands or even if he ejects properly (took me a few hours to set the triggers to make him eject almost every time). Also, unfortunately we can't place shot down pilots on the water (never understood why this wasn't added to DCS yet). So you have to forgive some of the shortcuts...

Just kind of spitballing, might be a dumb idea, but would it be/have been possible for your wingman to have data-linked you a coordinate for the downed pilot along with a throwaway line of dialogue like "I see him on the north side near the marina, sending a coordinate with his location"?

That said, if I would have known it was going to be important, I would have been more diligent about finding the marina at the start of the mission when it is foreshadowed and set a mark point there, but at the time I just blew it off. From a narrative standpoint I should have known better, as there is no point in brandishing chekov's marina if it's not going to be used later.

It is an interesting idea, I'll see what I can do. I wish I had a model of a downed pilot and a downed pilot in the water...

I had the same problem. I couldnt find the technical because i looked in the wrong area where i thought the marina was and where the pilot went down.

@baltic_dragon, minor bug. Tacan 36X for Bear works in the beginning, but i noticed it had dropped out when i was on my way home. I tried 30X, 34X and 36X. Could not dial Bear in again.

First technical east of the factory gets partly damaged by the JDAM's. That is likely not intended.

Spoiler

First experience in DCS where i felt sad on the way home with a knot in my stomach. I only realized what this mission is based on, in transit on the way home when listening to Blackbird on the radio.

Very well done !

Thanks! Yeah, based on real story.. and as for the first technical, this is now internally fixed. Indeed - not intended, things changed with new splash damage for the Mk-80s
