It doesn't stutter on mine by keeping SMT enabled, not sure why it would stutter for yours, mine had the tiniest amount of stutter by disabling SMT.

I think he meant that with Turbo Mode enabled (which disables SMT) he got stutters. Which seems to be consistent with your experience.

Hi 9800x3d here too, Rog Strix x870e-e, G.Skill 64GB DDR5-6000. Only did a HW update, left the SSD's with software the same. Installed new drivers.

Only in VR I also notice some kind of stutter, if you can call it that. Visually it is not very noticeable. I do see it appear slightly in the DCS monitoring chart (the horizontal darker white lines on the CPU chart. It sounds like a small crack that I hear about every couple of seconds or so. I hear it both in the pit and in the menu. When I hear it, I see the impact on the DCS monitor chart. It appears as a darker white line on the top chart.

Is your stutter only a visual stutter?

Will go through all the good recommendations that were given above.

What video card do you have? Mine is not stuttering anymore, just choppy or slowdown low over cities when looking to the sides, specially on Channel map.

Turn Turbo off, clear the CMOS after a Bios update

4090. I did the bios update and cleared the CMOS. Still no joy. Maybe it is audiocard driver related am going to look into some of the peripherals

Might be a bit of a long shot, but maybe try SDI (snappy driver installer) to go over the whole system for missing updated drivers.

Are you by chance overclocking at all, specifically FCLK (infinity fabric)? One of the ways infinity fabric instability manifests is audio glitches due to AMDs error correction.

I reinstalled drivers before and am only doing light overclocking. But thanks, it is solved now. My audio was playing parts. Am now using a USB connection to my DAC instead of the toslink. Buttery smooth now. I can't believe my eyes.

That shows how sensible the whole setup is to mistuned minor accessories.

Having a 9800X3D, a 4090, tons of RAM and lots of SSD space is no sure ticket to joy, the devil is buried deep in the detail in many cases.

Good find btw !

It has come in handy a couple of times, a good thing to keep in your back pocket.

If you are running an ASUS board, you can get the original drivers stripped of all the bs by someone named, mokichu, at the asus forums

rog-forum.asus.com/t5/hardware-build-advice/index-all-my-drivers-firmware-software-threads/m-p/827232

ASUS audio drivers in particular are buggy since they try to do weird enhancements and use a lot of cpu

Thanks will try

Fixed it after a ton of work, trial an error by me , even AMD support, re install windows and nothing helped.

This AM posted in Toms Hardware and one guy with lots of trophies in his signature (experienced) told me to go to Bios, go default, clear CMOS, go back to Bios, stay default and try the game, no stutters and super smooth game play.

Then I was able to overclock and this processor seems pretty good for DCS.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Will test some more and post the improvement from the 7800.

I am also getting some fps dips here and there. fps can drop way under 100 for a second. And what I did in just undervolt it in bios (-20). Do you think it might cause thsese dips as well?

Else its all on stock settings.

How much did you overclock? Does the temp rises with it?

It might be irrelevant but on the X870 but on the X570 when It came out(Early Bios), A SOC voltage too low would cause all kind of weird <profanity> with audio and Ram instability

Ditto, this is what I did and fixed my performance issues.
