SPOOKY 1-1 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) I've been following this project for several months on YT and only recently found my way to this thread to express my profound appreciation for this project. I for one REALLY appreciate the laborious effort that is being poured into this unique experience. During my VERY short time on this thread, I'm seeing so many (like myself) that REALLY enjoy flying the mission solo, but yearn for that Multiplayer experience illustrated so well by so many of @Devil 505's YT videos. In an effort to reciprocate my appreciation for this project, and the following it has generated, I was able to (through the generosity of LUCK - Owner FOX3ms.com) allocate the much needed space a Fox3 server needs to run this experience. With that being said, I'm pleased to announce the VIETNAM | Into The Jungle community server. Although SRS is encouraged, feel free to join the Discord VC here: https://discord.gg/CgkzWDHBfp (updated 02-28-25) --- I will do my best to keep the server updated as this project continues to develop. (Devs are welcomed to access) Feel free to reach out on the Discord thread in the rare event the server needs a restart. --- Again, THANK YOU to everyone that is continually putting effort into this, it's a total blast and has TOTALLY transformed the way I experience DCS in VR. Kirk66 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) This is a great mission - and really want to jump on your new server - but I get CTDs or crashes just about every time I run this mission. Only single player so far, and have the latest version and all the needed mods installed. Rig is a 14900k, 4090, 64ddr5, running Quest Pro via Virtual Desktop on dedicated 6e server. On flat screen it runs flawlessly on a 55 in 1080p tv at DCS HIGH settings, but in VR it always ends up either CTD or crash. Will attach latest crash log. Using F-4E and F-5E, and OH-6 and UH-1. What graphics settings are you using? I normally run pretty high and get steady 72fps everywhere, but in this mission I'm using the default DCS VR setting and getting OK frames. Playable. but a bit steppy. Here are latest crash files/log. And thank you for picking my (literal) jet for the F-4 alert bird! Best skin in the game! SPOOKY 1-1 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 @Kirk66 I generally have a VERY smooth experience when running anything else but this mission. For me, this particular .miz will occasionally skip during moments of maximum chaos and destruction in addition other mysterious moments...but is overall more playable online than it is offline as stated by Devil505 in several of his videos. I'm using the Meta Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop, and while the experience is good, it's not great. I'll be swapping over to the Pimax Super (whenever they decided to ship it to me) and likely have to reconfig my settings to accommodate...but until then here's a couple screenshots of my current settings using the Quest 3 paired with a RTX3090. (Virtual Desktop Streaming settings: 90FPS & Godlike) Hope this helps! nullnull 1

A couple of questions: if you use Virtual Desktop, what encoding do you use? I prefer 264+ at 400mbits, seems to work good. Then, do you add any supersampling in DCS? I run my system at 72fps, and bumped SS to 1.3, and it's pretty stable, and looks pretty nice. Anyway - you absolutely made my day. Went out in the Loach and shot up a VC camp, took a few hits, then flew back to a floating base and pooched the landing...FUN! A request for the mission - unless I missed it, when I launched in the alert F-4, the only tanker that was airborne was an MPRS probe and drogue - not much use in DCS for a thirsty Rhino. Is there a way to request a boom tanker? Vulture 1

Is there a way to request a boom tanker? One other thing about the alert fighters which I probably should have said. I set those 3 up for some future content where we hope to randomly spawn incoming bombers to the Airfield which will bomb Andersen. I would like to have random fighter escorts around them as well, so you never know what kind of hornets' nest you are getting into. This is on the list of things to attempt but we need to script and test it first. These alert F-4's that are on a hot start are armed for intercept. Not to say you cannot rearm them for ground attack. Just wanted you to know what was on our mind with those 3 and why they were labeled differently. That is also why they are at the end of the runway and in place for a quick launch. More to come in the future with intercept fighters. I have some ideas for the upcoming F-104 as well.
Devil 505 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Introducing the Anubis C-130 mod into ITJ. It has been a phenomenal mod that has been around for a long time. In current state, it is a great aircraft to use for CAS and loitering overhead for your friends online or searching for targets solo. Shooting takes some practice, and I need it for sure. You will need to get use to watching where you first point of impact is and then learn how to walk your rounds to the target. It takes some practice. I welcome anyone who has more experience than I do (very little) in this mod to please provide your comments. I would like to become more accurate at a higher altitude, but I find the sweet spot currently is around 3 to 4K for me. This is the latest version (Last version from several years back). If anyone knows how to change the gun reticles or replace them, I am open to suggestions. It would be nice to have something a little more subtle. We plan to try some further things with this mod other than just a combat role. More to come. I do not want to give the entire list of ideas away. We need a lot of scripting and testing in the background before we commit to anything. Hope you enjoy this as much as we are starting to. It will be ready to implement in the next update and we will upload the front page with the download link. 1 1
Devil 505 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 And the here is today's video of the actual first combat flight with the boys. What a great time it was!!!! Absolutely looking forward to more flights with Puff! Even more so looking forward to flying with the Cayuse while Zipper or Kandy are overhead bringing the rain. Hope you enjoy. More vids to come. 1
Devil 505 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Last video for the weekend. Finally had a chance to shoot a CSAR from the Chinook. No chapters in this video. I narrated this one to give some advice on flying, landing, and performance in ITJ. Hope it helps. Really looking forward to bringing more functionality to the Chinook in ITJ in the near future. This not only a blast to fly but also to hear and see coming in while flying the Cayuse or Huey. You can hear her coming a ways out. Love it! More to come.

Love that you made it your own by adding additional planes you want to fly. Hope maintenance doesn't become a burden as we add new stuff. I also noticed the server might to be running when no one is online. You may consider pausing it when no one is online to preserve the early morning fog conditions. Totally your call, of course. Also, I didn't try it, but there's a server reset option on the F10 radio menu. Depending on how you want to administer this server you may want to consider removing from the radio options to prevent shenanigans. I'll join your discord as well. 17 hours ago, SPOOKY 1-1 said: Again, THANK YOU to everyone that is continually putting effort into this, it's a total blast and has TOTALLY transformed the way I experience DCS in VR. I suspect Mongo/Devil will highlight it in a video assuming you don't mind. In terms of VD settings: Runtime is VDXR & Codec is AV1 10-Bit on the Desktop app. In the Quest 3, I'm running at 400mbps! and 90fps on the 3090 setting. I haven't done anything outside of the settings I've shared with you other than Re-shade, but I wasn't pleased with how it turned out in VR. Tonker Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Just back in-country after some time away with work, all kinds of excited to try out the update when I get home in the next couple days. Changelog sounds awesome, and looking forward to checking out the public server! @SPOOKY 1-1 you abs 'kin legend you! Too cool! Seeing Tobi's mini-update in the OH-6A thread just now, I wonder if a concerted effort to co-ordinate for a server full of us lot showing off the Loach might be a nice thing for her creators? Not really my wheelhouse - best organised via the server Discord? Bit of a formation flight then split to raise hell?! 1 Nah, I've only just met 'er...:pilotfly:

Not really my wheelhouse - best organised via the server Discord? Bit of a formation flight then split to raise hell?! The AH-6 news this morning was a gut punch. Considering Tobi said discontinuing all DCS projects was due to "lack of motivation" could mean pretty much anything I suppose. I wouldn't expect a coordinated effort to show off Loach is going to do much to change his mind. I know Mongo posts a lot of videos over there and tags both creators. I'm sure we'll continue tagging them with future content videos. Maybe folks can record their Cayuse content and share with Tobi and Eightball. Probably easier than trying to coordinate a fly-in. My suspicion, based on several written interactions with Tobi both here and on Discord is he thought this through and waited until he was committed to ceasing work before he posted. Definitely sad for the community, however as both of those guys are absolute Community All-Stars in my book. Really bummed they've opted to move away from DCS. Devil 505 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 If I could ask to pull the community together on this one and bounce over to the OH-6A forum for Tobi and Eight Ball. They are ceasing all work on their mods to include the Cayuse and the upcoming Little Bird due to lack of motivation. Not sure if it is lack of motivation internally or from the community, but I thought we could do our best as a community to hold them up and let them know they are wanted and very important to us and our experience in DCS. I created a video for them providing my support. I encourage everyone to drop them a line on their forum below and or create a video if that is your thing. We need guys like this to stick around. Sorry, not about me, just to say the Loach guys are absolutely appreciated, and they've had a massively positive impact on something we all care about. Devil 505 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 So today was a quick test "literally" of how the bombers will attack Andersen in an alert F-4. What I did not expect was how close Kandy put them to Andersen for the test and also that he snuck an escort Mig-21 in there. The outcome as you can guess did not turn out in my favor. I did not even have time to arm, but damn cool takeoff and successful test of a very cool implementation on the way. 2

Devil 505 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 This past weekend's flight below. Have one more video I need to knock out after I lifted back off in this one. This stuff never gets old. Standby for Kandy's teaser above. Air to Air/Base defense is inbound to ITJ once we have tested it and ironed out any issues. Another role that will require the team and skilled pilots to protect Andersen, and yes there will be consequences for failing to stop the bombers.......Brush up on those F-4E ATA skills! 1
