Currently, they man all 4 catapults. Say you wanted to place statics along CAT 1 ( a common place to park aircraft in real life) , can we make it so they dont direct anyone there or appear there? Same for any of the other catapults.....

Or is it always 4 teams, one for each cat ?

Currently, it is not possible to remove the cat crews. Just place your statics there, they won´t bother.

If you have AI aircraft departing, tell them which cat they have to use, this works ok.

But:

With the new deck crew update, you always get directed to cat 1 - no matter if this cat is available or full of parked aircraft.

So i suggest you keep your deck clean until ED has solved this mess 🙂

When in doubt - climb. Nobody ever collided with air.

I have been guided to Cat 4 and 3 when 1 and 2 were occupied, but that was from elevator 4. I think if you are on elevator 2 you get put onto cat 1 or 2.

You can´t really chose your spawn point as a client, can you ?

It would be possible if we could place statics on the other spawn points to block those, but that´s impossible without interferring with the directors pathing right now. They just direct you into anything that´s in the way 🙂

I have noticed that first spawn is always position 1. If you immediately change slot, you get put into a slot either forward or aft of the island. This is with 4 ai aircraft set to take off.

Without any deeper knowledge of the ME (and without knowledge whether or not this is currently possible): wouldn't the obvious solution for placing statics be to simply allow the mission maker to enable/disable catapults in the editor? Simple on/off switch for each CAT?

Spawn positions, taxi routes, CATs, and even plane directors are defined in a couple lua files. These are editable if you know what you’re doing.

At the moment, these files are loaded on DCS startup only. What we really need, is the ability to load these files either from within the mission editor (then we could have a drop box with different deck/CAT configs), or even better mid-mission, as this would enable switching from a launch config to a recovery configuration dynamically.
