Various modules (Hornet, Viper, Apache, A-10C II, Su-25T, TF-51D and probably others) got the usual assortment of Instant Action activities, but no proper missions. Dima | My DCS uploads
Olly2282 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 They should honestly just pay a guy like Reflected a good wage to make a load of Missions and Campaigns continuously for them - for free, as long as you have purchased the modules - they would get a tonne of good will and also loads of opportunities to get people wanting to buy the maps and aircraft to link everything together. Having a mission like ‘Cold Start’ is a joke because you can just do that yourself on a map with zero effort, why not make use of an awesome Campaign and Mission designer’s talent to do something good? 4

I don't think it's zero effort, believe it or not, many dcs players have no idea about editing a mission. So your proposal is having missions for every, again every, available module. For free, no recharge for customers. It's plainly inviable 2 i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak

Those are the same people who have probably never heard of beer. I don't see how anyone could be a DCS flyer for more than a few weeks and not get into the ME at least a little bit. Pick your map, your plane, some weather, plop a ZSU-23 on the ground, and within 60 seconds you have a mission. Or just set up free flights or takeoff and landing practice. It's great stuff and super easy. Flying DCS and never using the ME is like living by a lake and never going for a swim. 5 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Maybe they spend all time on multiplayer, or join a squadron with baked training missions, or buy single player DLC campaigns, or they are happy with things like Inferno mission generators. No massively involved missions but there are some instant action scenarios that are beyond the usual free flight sightseeing ones e.g. I played an F-16 IA mission last night that was a fairly simple scramble and intercept of some SU-24s. There's a fairly simple A2G one for the F-16 too (find and kill some rocket launchers with ground assistance) but I haven't played it yet.

You, sir, apparently do not live in Antarctica That being said, a good friend of mine hails from Bodø, and yes, she regularly takes a swim in Salzfjord during Summer. Refreshing indeed. Obviously, I know my way around ME, but few other in the group I fly with do, so it is entirely imaginable that people don't know ME - nor care. Missions are what is in their folder. Because good always requires time. Anyone can do bad quickly. Good means care. And care takes time. And time is precious. That being said I think that providing a couple of nice, "inspirational" missions with a map could do wonders for the community to help their mission creators to get their creative juices flowing. Such a 'instigator' map could highlight the interesting parts of a map - because finding a good, interesting place for a mission takes a *lot* of time, and the map creators could help their map become more popular if there were more missions available. 2

Refreshing indeed. My mother is from Kristiansand, and she said that fishermen never learned to swim, because it was better to drown quickly than freeze to death. Not sure if that is entirely true though. 1

I understand that some people don't use the ME, but it's also reasonable to say they should at least know how to plop a plane onto a map, add some weather, and make a basic flight. It's hard to underestimate its importance to the sim. 1 1 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
