Oban Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 There's so many POI's missing that are significant landmarks in Baghdad.. the more I fly around Baghdad, the more I realise that those who created the map didn't really have sufficient knowledge of the area..and the more disappointed I become. I spent 18 years as a Private Security Contractor, from 2004 until 2022... the last 6 years in Baghdad itself.. No Saddam's palaces anywhere... No half built Grand Mosque in Mansour No Twin Mosques coming out of the IZ onto route Irish No Babylon or Rashid Hotels No Ibn Sina Hospital No Gate archway at Khadimiya No Assasins Gate archway exiting the IZ onto Haifa Street There's another archway on the straight road before Ibn Sina Hospital. No Ministry of Oil No Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) The road from Baghdad to BIAP is way too overpopulated by Palm trees, it wasn't like that at all..even when I left there in 2022, it wasn't remotely as dense as the map, and from 2004-2010 the BIAP road/Route Irish was devoid of trees altogether. 3 1 AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit
Psicodreamics Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 There are many places to fill the map. I'm sure ED will add more POI's in the future. 3 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Keep informed about DCS World news at: ALLIED FLYING FORCE CPU Intel Core i7-6700K 4.00 Ghz / Gigabyte Z170X Gaming Motherboard / Memory 32GB DDR4 / Graphic Card Asus GTX1080 Turbo/ S.O. I read about Irish route on several books. What's the actual name/part where convoys were ambushed? Checking google maps in guessing it's airport street? My favorite however for comical value of how not to implement is the Victory Arch crossed swords in Bagdad (swords of Qadissiya), have a fly down and a chuckle at the narrow dirt track, lack of those huge lighting towers and instead of the salute platform half way down its some kebab shop, its about as bad as it gets and thats before we get onto how the swords themselves look like made out of stone! And yea trees everywhere (even in the euphrates let alone route Irish). The only part of the map i enjoy at present is the elevation mesh in the mountains along the Turkish border. The cities need a huge amount of work and i cannot understand the mentality to include alot of the Northern airfields and cluster them when miss out H3/H2 on the initial release. I think we will need once again clever community members to implement the LZ's - its a pity this map wasn't done by Urda media, as yet im very unconvinced this low quality sat image stick on buildings is the way forward. That being said and dam i wish i had pics of my time in and around Baghdad, i think ED is receiving allot of help from the community as far a visual references its my guess anyways. The mountains to the north are absolutely next gen, for DCS. 1 I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.

Oban Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Taken back in 2006, as you can see the Cross Swords parade area is actually pretty massive... I believe the Blackhawks were part of Tony Blair's visit to Baghdad that day. AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit
