I noticed that the landing lights do not retract in accordance with the real plane. When the Taxi/LDG light switch is turned off and the NAV Knob is also turned to the Off position the lights should retract, but it's not on DCS.

We have checked with the team and this is correct as is.

thank you

No it's not. Otherwise the lights would not retract befeore engines shutdown. I'm a F-5 pilot and can assure you that it's not correct as it is.

Please DM me with any evidence I am happy to mention it to the team.

I think the confusion results from what exactly the relevant passage means by "two-position" and "retract". Does "two-position" exclude an additional fully-retracted position? And does "retract" indicate full retraction if not qualified as "retract to the intermediate or taxi-light position"?

Two position mens that it has a Flight (no WoW) and ground (WoW) position. Fully retracted is only achieved by putting the Nav Knob at the Off position and the Switch at the off position.

Thank you for the messages and discussion.

The lights extend and retract only when position lights are on, we have this in a manual and it tests correctly in game.

thank you

The explanation in question. This is the official Northrop Technical Digest from August 1977 that was distributed to all F-5 operators worldwide.

I got a little bit lost here. Could you guys tell me what's wrong with the current logic? In my yesterday flight putting either the Landing Light "T" switch to OFF (OR) turning the Nav Lights knob to OFF caused the lights to retract. Or was it so dark they simply went off...?

Putting the ldg/taxi light switch in the off position does not retract the lights, just turn them off.

Yeah, I cranked gamma up in my recent night flight video and I can see that as well. They just turn of the bulbs.

BTW, what are those two blinding lights behind each pilot's ear? 🙂 They seem to turn on and off by nav light knob as well.
