Hello People!

At any point in the simulation...does any one of you make use of the cancel autopilot/emergency disengage button?

If yes.....Why?

what situation in real life could lead to make use of this button?

I´m asking because from time to time my helicopter become an uncontrollable beast. and Im not knowing if this or that situations need that autopilot disengage button.

Skuda

By the way Im reading the manual....but its Huge...and my english sometimes its not good as I wish.

Yes I do. I have it assigned to the pinkie switch where it is quick to

disingage when I am in hover, attacking targets and get a warning of under attack. It makes it easier to quickly get out of harms way for me. I have the ALT-HD-PITCH, assigned to Fire E button for quick engagement.

I think leaving the autopilot intact and assigning a joystick item to "flight director" is a better option. Auto pilot disengage will cause some wild flight.

Thats what Im talking about!

When its the right time to use and why?

Sometimes I found myself fighting the autopilot and engaging AP emergency drives me to another wild situation.

Ovbiously its a matter of practice and reading the manual.....but if someone here knows the short way to realize how and when its neccesary to use it....

I disengage it whenever I want to fly for the joy of it. When I want to feel the helicopter like a helicopter rather than a single-pilot rotory-wing combat vessel. It's not wild, just highly sensitive. Like a helicopter. :)

If under heavy attack in a hover I will flick it off which makes for a wild ride getaway. Wild for the pilot(and fun) even more so for whatever is tracking me.

I use VAC and say "autopilot all) to turn on all 4 holds once I am out of trouble or about to get in some trouble if I push the flight envelope to hard.

I tend to use it all the time with the exception of perhaps altitude hold. If im evading the enemy flying fast and close to the ground I may be holding the trim button down. Once im in the clear and stable I just release the trim button, and take a sip of my coffee or beer.

The auto pilot and trim system in this game really need to be mastered, if you prefer just to fight the enemy and not the helicopter.

If the trim is beating up on you then I'd suggest holding the trim on lift off, lean forward on your stick as you increase collective. Once you lift off and your level, release trim, and recentre your stick. Your heli is now trimmed for hover. Now even if you dont trim again inflight your heli will return to a stable hover as soon as you release the stick.

Once in target area, release "route mode" and select "turn to target" and you wont be combating the auto pilot.

My thoughts anyhow :)
