shadowborn Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Hey. Unless I had a stroke of improved flying ability over night (unlikely ), the Apache is much improved by the latest patch. I can finally transition between flight and hover reliably with urgency, without either rising over the horizon like a buffoon, or with occasional funky things happening and then crash. So yeah - thanks, ED! Happy new year! 2 "I crash, therefore I am." Rhinozherous Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I am also happy with the new FM! Now it is much more predictable. 2 i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
sirrah Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Funny. I can't say I noticed much FM difference to be honest. Then again, I've never had any trouble flying the Apache and loved it since its release. I must say though, I did have a feeling that since the last update, there's less crabbing (at high speeds). But that could just be in my head. 1 System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

But that could just be in my head. Curious assessment. I'd have called it almost all the other way around. I found that the yaw behavior is a LOT more "house-broken" and far easier on the legs, heels and toes. Yet, my take, was that the excessive crabbing (esp. at cruising speeds: 100~120kias) seemed to be the one thing that's more or less the same as before. Of course, this is my reckoning from just about a couple days (probably not even a full flight hour) worth of testing, before duty (mother) called and I was "drafted" for Family Holidays™ (i.e: afk) up until, more or less, just about now.... So, I'll probably have a better sense of what the Apache is or isn't doing within the next couple days. But from the little flying I got with it between the update and xmas eve, I kinda got a sense that the crabbing was kinda the same, while the yaw got MUCH better... I was pretty well used to being "light on my feet" with the old FMs, so now it feels like one would expect it should (having never had the remotest chance of ever being allowed near the real thing, let alone fly it...) From the devs, crabbing issue has not been fixed yet, as it involves some deep changes in the rotor dynamics model. Hopefully we see that soon, and some other weird behavior like that roll on pitch down. Otherwise definitely some welcome changes in SCAS and yaw response. 1
