IIRC I didn't install the A-10C mod, it just showed up when I bought the A-10C II. A quick look at the to cockpits shows the A-10C and the II models are the same. I did notice that the TAX cockpit glass mod didn't work as an option with the A-10C model.

I don't know enough about the two of them to really make a definitive comparison, thus I'm only going off the cockpits.

There should be a number of differences:

  • A-10C: clean cockpit textures, A-10C II: worn/used cockpit textures
  • A-10C: ARC-186 VHF AM vs. A-10C II: ARC-210 control head behind the throttle (the forward most radio control head)
  • A-10C II: unlabeled HMCS unit on the right console with a single switch with ON and BAT positions
  • a few panels might have slightly different positions between the two modules

And of course when there's a helmet mounted cueing system displaying data when looking away from the HUD, that's only available in the A-10C II module.

The 2 modules are roughly 95% identical, but those 5% make a world of difference (once pilots get to know and appreciate the new toys 😉 ).

All that said, there's not much reason to install the old A-10C module for new players, unless they want to learn the differences between the old one and the new one. The new version is all around better and isn't missing anything (besides the old Pave Penny hanging from the right side of the forward fuselage, which had been rendered obsolete by the TGP ages ago anyway).
