ebabil Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Are there anyone using this base for heli flying? I have been using warthog and it is too stiff so heli flying is torture. Moza ffb base is too expensive and too big. So I must find another solution that my wife wouldn't kick me out of the home. I am eyeing ava base since it has soft springs and cams but not sure it is worth to do so. 1 FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 | Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60 Youtube MS FFB2 - TM Warthog - CH Pro Pedals - Trackir 5
Aapje Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This is a review by a dedicated heli simmer: https://www.helisimmer.com/reviews/thrustmaster-ava-base He mentions that due to a lacking clutch, the stick won't remain in place, so you have to hold it all the time. The Mongoose seems to be better in that regard, but it does mean that you have to get a different grip, so it's probably a decent amount more costly for you: https://www.helisimmer.com/reviews/virpil-vpc-mongoost-50cm3-joystick-base Although you may be able to sell the Warthog. 2
ebabil Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 what about warbrd-d? clutch means that the stick hold like ffb trimmer? Which actually makes the Rhino/FFBeast more attractive, even if they are more expensive. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
rcjonessnp175 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 ava base is awesome with helis, i use the soft springs with a good bit of pre load on them, and the aero cams. 2 I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.
ebabil Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Thanks for the answers, Looks like the main difference between ava and virpil warbrd d is clutch system. Clutch sounds very good for helis. But I am not using it only for helis. so should i change the clutch setting everytime i switch from helicopter to plane? Aviators Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Evaluate VKB, I use it and it is perfect. L'importante non è stabilire se uno ha paura o meno, è saper convivere con la propria paura e non farsi condizionare dalla stessa. Ecco, il coraggio è questo, altrimenti non è più coraggio ma incoscienza.
