Strannix Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) Hi @BIGNEWY, So long since we heard something about update of weapons effects and damage modelisation. Effectiveness of ammunitions in air war simulator like DCS must be one priority. Only AGM can be considered realistic because they pinpoint the target but all other weapons from A/A and A/G are not good. How many times we've got a MK82 hitting 10m from an APC and do nothing. 20mm gun is completely useless and even 30 mm is weak. I won't even talk about bigger bomb like MK84... Why loosing time on create quite complicated fuse settings for bombs then on the other side you've got nothing to simulate the different effects cause by that choice. Weaponring is a important process in air war planification and we have nothing except visual fireball for your commercial videos. I don't want to be disrespectful but you showed off that you are the best air combat simulator. Well, show us that it's just not to create nice trailer. Edited January 31 by Strannix 5

I had a 500lb bomb land literally next to a Panther tank. And the tank received no damge. Rocket which are really effective against infantry and light vehicles in real life. Do almost no damage. 30mm from the Apache too. Isn't very effective. As seen here. 30mm from the apache blows up all around the technical. https://youtube.com/shorts/-fHcc8qrZ5A?feature=share 2 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

ruxtmp Posted January 26 Posted January 26 If it hasn't been added to this point it probably isn't possible to simulate shrapnel. They do need to figure out something though as this is completely unrealistic. 1
Fitzcarraldo Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Apart from shrapnel, there would also be the need to simulate penetration warheads like bunker busters... i think currently bunkers and shelters have hitpoints that can be chipped away with HE or any other weapon... 3
Strannix Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 I'm happy to not be the only guy to complain about that feature. Of course DCS needs complete overhaul concerning blast, fragmentation, penetration on weapons and how it will affect vehicles, infantry, structures... So many things to do with vehicles like mobility kill, damaged sensors, crews leaving it... Currently, something that make the game so weird, is the fact that it's pretty impossible to damage your own aircraft with low release bombs. I was deployed in Africa few years ago as a JTAC, and we went trough some places struck by allied aviation. You doesn't want to be there when it happened, in DCS not so dangerous... 1
rcjonessnp175 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Man we have been talking about this and waiting for it to improve for 15+ years.... I would hope that now we have multi threading and considering this is a combat sim it would be prioritized. In my opinion the dynamic campaign system will be absolutely worthless without a full damage and terminal effects sim incorporated.... 2 I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Without significant air and ground AI, GCI, ATC improvements the whole concept of getting a dynamic campaign is silly. Considering how the AI behaves and reacts to practically scripted commands in mission editor the dynamic campaign will be a complete flop. I watched 4 ai AH-64-Ds circle a set of zsu-23-4 till they all got shot down. A pair of A-10 desperately searched for ground targets from 22K feet at 157kts only to blunder into an SA-6 site and get shot down. None of the AI even fired a shot. 4
