ouky1991 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Locking moving helicopter with Lima Hellfire works as usual but after the symbology changes from LOAL to LOBL constraints, the trajectory of the missile seems to be the same as LOAL lima_test.trk
admiki Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Lima is radar guided. Once it's off the rail, it will always follow it's own trajectory.

I'm not sure what changed but before the last patch, trajectory of LOBL was visibly different, and lima would hit helos from top. Now it flies like LOAL, aproaching from a side and often missing target
NeedzWD40 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Can confirm, moving targets trigger LOAL DBS trajectory when they shouldn't. AH-64D AGM-114L LOBL Trajectory Failure.trk
ED Team Lord Vader Posted January 27 ED Team Posted January 27 Hi all. There haven't been any changes applied to missile trajectory lately. Furthermore, we would like to know where are you basing your statements about trajectories. We've made tests and the RF missiles, including employment against aerial targets, are working as described in page 501 and on of our DCS:AH-64D manual. If you feel this is incorrect, please supply publicly available unclassified documentation via PM to @BIGNEWY and we'll have a look. Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord

That's odd considering that a couple updates ago, the AGM-114L followed the standard loft in LOBL vs the extreme offset path of LOAL DBS. I had thought this was related to target speed at first as there is a threshold, but when I tested with the FCR as a sight, all of my missile launches followed a DBS trajectory. My final shot was <2.5km where it went straight to terminal track, which is correct. Unfortunately, I have no public sources at hand to share right now and all the footage I've found would be considered insufficient (and likely the wrong subvariant). I'll update this later if I do find proper documentation.

My assumption is not based on any real life data, it's more anecdotal. Playing the same missions I played a month ago, I would have almost 100% success hitting flying helo (Mi-24 set to "no reaction to threat") As soon as LOBL symbology appeared, I would launch and see the missile hit the target from above. Now, it just flies from the side and misses more often - which is what would before the last update happen if launched while LOAL symbology was shown.
