SnowTiger Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I have been away from DCS for quite some time so it might be just my poor memory or it might be the decades of substance abuse .. I don't know which but didn't the Persian Gulf Map used to be called the Straight of Hormuz Map ? Have I missed something ? 1 SnowTiger AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - Zen 4 16-Core 4.5 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI 6E Socket AM5 (LGA 1718) Ryzen 7000 gaming motherboard Geforce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio X - 24GB GDDR6X + META Quest 3 + Controllers + Warthog Throttle, CH Pro Pedals, VKB Gunfighter MKII MCG Pro G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo Series 64 GB RAM (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 RAM

SnowTiger Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 Thank you for the reply and for verifying what I was thinking. I was kind of going nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't find that map in the Mission Editor. After going through all of DCS' terrains, I happened to notice a screenshot of Abu Dhabi in the Persian Gulf map which pretty much confirmed that something had changed. It's important to me because A) It's an awesome terrain and B) Because one of my most famous 3D Models is used on this Map/Terrain (which can still be seen in Google Earth Pro - Legacy Buildings) and that is the model of Ferrari World - Abu Dhabi which I created for Google Earth. It was a very difficult shape to model. Many have tried and failed. Sadly, for some unknown reason, the model is no longer visible in what used to be called the Google 3D Warehouse (3DWH) because it "disappeared" around the time the Straight of Hormuz map was released and yet all of my other models still remain there !! Anyway, sorry for the long blab. Thank you kindly for the confirmation reply. Much Appreciated. draconus Posted February 12 Posted February 12 SoH was not official. They have released it as PG when it hit the store as better marketing name but SoH was way more honest to what it really represents imo. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Amarok_73 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Gentlemen, one little correction, name of this geographical region is "Strait of Hormuz", not "straight", like the narrow passage. 2 Natural Born Kamikaze ------------------------- AMD Ryzen 5 3600, AMD Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, 32 GB RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX, PSU Modecom Volcano 750W, Virpil Constellation Alpha Prime on Moza AB9 base, Virpil MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle, Turtle Beach VelocityOne Rudder.

Thanks for that. I read "Straight of Hormuz" literally hundreds of times here in the forum so I was almost believing it was correct Edited April 22 by Tom Kazansky 1
