We are spreading the word about user files to the thousands of new players to DCS, many of whom don't come to the forum, or discord or follow social media, the newsletter will be used for many things, it wont always please the veterans but we have to reach out to our new members with information from time to time. 9 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Sorry BN, but none of the feedback given in this thread is "new". If any of this feedback ís indeed new for ED, that means ED hasn't been listening/reading well enough. Most of the feedback here has been asked/wished for many times in many different threads and sub-forums. That's why I used the term "backfire". primus_TR Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Not directly related with the User Files section, but can we have, in addition to the Thanks and Like, a Clown remark? I think there is great potential for its use here. 2
Bucic Posted February 15 Posted February 15 My suggestions on behalf of all the DCS dads: 1. Top 10-50 for each category based on rating and downloads. Monthly picks maybe as well? 1a. Same as above but additionally curated by ED. 2. One click "Watch" plus "Watched" in the user profile that is filter-able by category. 3. "Ignore" per category. 4. Liveries: 2 separate "Fictional" subcategories: one for completely fictional, one for "misplaced" liveries that are of very high fidelity to the originals but are implemented for a different unit or country. Example: Stock ED-provided RAF livery in the F-5E module. 4 F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close

The earliest something will probably start to appear is around Q2 (I bet MiG-29 in June), or World War II (F6F, AI asset, Marianas map update ) maybe April/May. However, I agree about the Afghanistan map. From a period of 3 months (for the next part) it has already become a period of 8 months and this is quite strange, because during this time there was not a single update of the map. It seems that they were waiting for the release of Iraq in a new form, which was very well received. Now this technology is probably being transferred to the Afghanistan map, but here again we are talking about several months that have passed and there are still no updates. So maybe March update, I hope? Meh, the more I've seen of actual use of the Iraq map, the more it looks like Flight Sim 2004. The high altitude shots released when it came out look pretty, but below 2,000ft AGL it is just awful and blurry. Very glad I didn't buy it, and hoping that Ugra don't switch to this "new tech" for the Germany map. LA-7 looks ace, not a plane I'm very familiar with either.

Yes, there was some frustration in my post, but it's just passion speaking. I for one get your point. From a point of view of someone passionate about DCS things have been rather quiet since the release of the new fog rendering. So this newsletter, after the last update being solely on mission updates, can seem like a filler. That is all. I'm pretty sure most people are hopeful things are going to pick up some pace before we go into the second quarter. Especially with regard to The Core. Really ? - I've had it a while but just started flying the Mi-24 over it - mostly in the center & W / NW portions I think down low it looks pretty convincing. Edited February 15 by Weta43 Cheers.

Sunbather Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) Although it has been demanded now and BigNewy has already acknowledged our feedback, I felt the need to use my insane skills in Microsoft Paint to visualize the problem. For the Sinai map there are six entries before Rudel-Chw's Mig-21bis Training Missions although they have been updated yesterday! And even that is only because the initial release of his Training Missions is relatively close to begin with. What will it look like in 2027? Rudel-Chw might still update his missions but they will only show up 5 pages into the Sinai section... It would be tremendous help to see right away what has been worked on recently and what is to be considered "use at own risk, the last 20 updates might have broken this user content". It would also give the users who keep their work current and functioning a much more prominent stage. Can't there simply be a new category that takes account of the last upload by the creator? Like so: Similiarily, I am probably going to buy the M-2000C because only yesterday I have found out that even the user campaigns made in 2022 have been updated. I didn't see that before because there are 18 campaigns and I simply didn't click on every single one of them, especially because I had no hopes for a campaign from 2022 to have been updated anyway. And that is only regarding the user files stuff where the changelog is in the description. I suspect there are quite a few files out there that have been updated but there is no way to know and they won't show up as 'recent' either. What I am saying is: if I see at first sight that a lot of user stuff for module X has been updated recently, I am much more likely to purchase said module.
