Terzi Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hello, I would like to ask about an online mission editor. The reason for that is, in a squadron everybody has their own module. It can be a tedious task for mission maker to make everybody's requirements. For example if F-16 guy prepares the mission then AH-64 guy needs to edit it and send the file to JF-17 guy and so on... If there would be an online mission editor platform where people can collaborate and edit on the same file it would be great. On the same file helo guys add their own thing while navy add their own stuff and configure frequencies etc. 1
Vakarian Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I assume this would mostly be solved with the DTC (when it eventually comes), but in the meantime there is a workaround which works really nicely in my group. Basically, all flight leads make their own flights in the mission editor (blank mission, only their flight added) and they configure loadout, skin, frequencies, waypoints, special points, all the things and then they save this as the static template. Then all flight leads send their static templates to the mission maker and all the mission maker needs to do is ensure the startup options are correct (from ground, in air...) and that the triggers point to the correct groups (if there are any). This way the mission details are kept "secret" from everyone else (which would be nullified with the online mission editor) meaning only the mission maker knows the placement of the enemy units. 1

Hello Vakarian. How do you finally merge all files coming from leads?

You just import static templates from them, it's very easy process. You save them to your disk "somewhere" and then in the ME there is an option "Add static template", just browse to the templates and that's it. For simplicity's sake, I always save them in the "StaticTemplates" folder in the SavedGames. Edited March 17 by Vakarian 1

Can you save waypoints, actions, frequencies, loadouts, skins etc. to each unit in templates? I remember them from SAM site setups but not really sure how far I can go with that. But still the online tool that I mentioned in the first post would solve all file transfer issues too. 1

Might be what you're looking for, although paywall… I’m not much of a mission designer but I would have to agree that since DCS is very heavily focused around the Mission Editor, it need some significant advancements in to bring it up to date and be a bit more user friendly and collaborative. 1 Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones

Here's a quick and dirty showcase. From all of the settings I've tried to set, only the datalink settings didn't get stored, rest were as I've setup. It makes mission making a lot easier than just giving .miz file to everyone to add their own stuff. 1
