eatthis Posted April 4 Posted April 4 is this total bs?? does frame gen work in vr? afaik it doesnt 1 7700k @5ghz, 32gb 3200mhz ram, 2080ti, nvme drives, valve index vr
speed-of-heat Posted April 4 Posted April 4 FrameGen isn't supported by VR. But this is "real" in the sense that it works for 2d Games 2 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Obic Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) Hold on here so So you're saying I could plug my 4090 + 3090 in the same mobo and enjoy a 1300W Space heater ? I dug out some old ass <profanity> from the forum Circa 2010 In regards to DCS there is a slight performance boost with SLI and Crossfire but it's really not worth the cost (it's only a few FPS). I run my GTX295 with the SLI turned off and use the second card for whats called "multi GPU AA" , it offloads all the Anti Alias onto the second card and makes it look way better with zero performance drop. DCS is more CPU bound. If your graphics card is decent you're better off with a CPU upgrade... Edited April 5 by Obic 1

In theory yes, if you had a power supply that could actually hack that, or at least were willing to put multiple supplies into your PC to achieve it, i haven't really dug that much into it because I really only play in VR, and it really only make sense if you have a spare GPU lying around but sure... 1 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

I now have two Titans lying around collecting dust. 12 minutes ago, speed-of-heat said: In theory yes, if you had a power supply that could actually hack that, or at least were willing to put multiple supplies into your PC to achieve it, i haven't really dug that much into it because I really only play in VR, and it really only make sense if you have a spare GPU lying around but sure... I need to test this. You know if even more than two cards can be used? My PS is 1500w so that's not an issue.

No idea, i am afraid... its more likely to be a lack of 8 pin connectors , you need 2 (6 and an 8 ) for each titan , and another two for the 2080ti Edited April 5 by speed-of-heat SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

Forgot about that! I do have some brand new PSUs somewhere. Need to get me one of those plugs so I can't start without a motherboard.Cool, new little project! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1

AFAIK, dual GPU tech like SLI and Crossfire stopped working with the release of DCS 2.7 and posterior versions (to this day). DCS version 2.5.6 (version in my signature, back from early 2021) seems to be the last version with which SLI and Crossfire still worked. Also, notice that in early 2010s we were on the old legacy engine (forward render, non-deferred shading) and single-thread. DCS in later years (since version 2.5.0) makes much, much bigger use of the GPU, and now also of the CPU with multi-thread adoption (since version 2.8, with MT). Aapje Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Not sure why the discussion is about SLI. The video isn't about that. SLI is splitting the screen up in parts and then each card renders that part of the screen. The method from the video is frame generation. There one card renders the full frame, and then the other card generates the extra frames based of that. 3
