I was told today by our COO that:
"We are aware of the pain creators have and we will think of the solution but it will take some time for us as it's a security issue and solution."

So while it's pretty much what I said, BUT I think they are more actively looking at it currently.

Thanks @NineLine. Is there any response to the fact that 3d models can be ripped straight from the GPU when running DCS? If this has not been shared, I think it would be helpful for leadership to understand. If this is a security issue, we do not believe that locking down the models in the model viewer actually resolves your security issue. Thanks again for sharing our concerns. 👍

The devs would be 100% aware of this.  The community of creatiors are aware of this.  It seems that only the persons who are decision makers are unaware of this.

Well, since 9L relayed a statement from the COO, the decision makers are presumably aware, too. Let's hope they can see reason.

You'd hope so.

Well, COO would usually be a decision maker, so that they know is pretty certain. Whether they care, that's another can of worms, and that's what I'm hoping about. If nothing else, the backlash showed that there's plenty of people down here who do care.

I'm going to try to remember to bump this thread weekly in order to keep visibility on the issue.

@NineLine anything new from the COO?

Not yet. Well, there is not anything I can share. I am reminding people as well. I did some research to see if it was indeed "easy" to rip ED models from memory and if it nullified our protection, and from what I can see, it is not that easy. That said, I am still pushing to get some of these things addressed.

I'm happy that it looks like you guys have been heard and acknowledged with the cancellation of the contest until solutions can be found. It will be good to see the big hitters take part (hopefully) when they reschedule it, overall it's a win for the DCS community as a whole in my opinion. 🫡

We'll see what they come up with. I'm really hoping for a revised MV but...

Let's look at it this way....none of us wanted to get this or any other competition "cancelled".  However, if this was done because ED has realized that something corrective needs to be done with the idea of encryption on a whole, and by extension, getting the MV working correctly and allowing us access to the files we need in general going forward, then this isn't a win for "us" who voiced opinions - it is - but it's a win for ED and the community because it means high quality pieces can be made and the community can stay lively with the biggest user made staple of any game - skins.  Regardless who makes them.  I know plenty of amazingly talented painters who didn't voice their opinions here who will be overjoyed if this is the result going forward.
