Hello !

@BIGNEWY do you know what is missing as features for the Mi-24 to be out of EA ?

I'm a (very) new Hind pilot and litteraly fell in love of it and I'm quite curious on which features are not yet implemented (or maybe it's only bug fixes ?).

Would it be possible to get a sort of roadmap ? Even very basic one and I'm not asking for date and schedule guarantee or engagement: :-D

Thanks a lot !

Have a nice day.

I'm intrigued by this. Is there something you're missing from the Mi-24 model that you know should be there? 🤔

Absolutely not. But the module is still in Early Access so something may be missing ?

And I honestly absolutely don't know what could be missing, that's why I asked the question.

Just the manual and ED campaign really.

Things we know will be improved eventually but are not necessarily EA are stuff like R-60 locking onto ground (dependent on IR rework), visible cargo/passenger (cargo rework), other various system enhancements like more Petro voice lines and tweaking. L-166V will only come when early MANPADs are introduced like Redeye and Strela.

Other than the manual and a campaign, it is very complete.

And aviator sunglasses / helmet visor, but that’s also common with other ED modules.

I think we may still be waiting on the option to mount single ATGMs on the dual racks as a weight-saving measure for low-risk flights. This was a very common practice in Afghanistan. In the same vein, the ability to mount the PKT instead of the Kord would be greatly appreciated.

And the possibility to change from the modern helmets with the NVG mount to the older ones would be nice, especially for use in the upcoming Cold War Germany map!

A simple solution for choosing helmets, I already proposed in another thread. I really regret that there is no possibility of implementing L-166W-1AE "Ispanka". I think the gameplay would become more interesting.

Mi-24 needs most to complete the functionality of a functional Ai Petrovich

The question is what do you expect? Comparing Petrovitch's capabilities to other AIs, it falls very short. No tools in the cabin for navigation, no radar for monitoring the battlefield, no integrated radio with the commander. All this reduces him to the role of a passenger except for the moment of shooting from the ATM. Of course, I am writing about this from the level of an offline player.

I think it's fair to expect at least a decent representation of the responsibilities a real front-seater has in an operational Mi-24P, adjusted for what does and doesn't apply in the DCS environment.

I'm afraid that apart from improving visual detection of enemies and improving the destruction of damaged vehicles, there's not much that can be done.

Other than spot things and work the sight and shoot the missiles, what other responsibilities does the front seater really have, in real life?

During a normal flight, it doesn't have much to do. It's more like ballast. 😄 They helped with navigation, previously using a map, later GPS was introduced. They also conducted radio communication. I'm leaving out the flight training process, where they performed their flight exercises during flights. That's just general terms.

SPO-15 is also planned to come, but that as among the last features (lowest priority). Even beyond "early access", there will be incremental upgrades to the AI and cargo aspect of the simulation, as confirmed by ED.

I would like a few more enthousiastic voice lines when I perform aerobatics or just generally manage to land the helicopter without VRS. This is definitely a feat worth of praise and Petrovich should earn his place by giving me an ego boost in such situations.

WSOs and RIOs are sometimes referred to as high-speed cheerleaders by single-seater pilots, I'd love me a low-speed cheerleader. Some woohoo's, oh yeah!'s and awesome job captain, that was unbelievable! would be appreciated.

This isn't America. 😁 Here, at most, you'd hear that your superior is... because he's acting up again, or arrange to go fishing or hunting.😂

So for another debater who apparently doesn't use Ai Petrovich :

1. AI doesn't even see the units already firing around the Mi-24 cockpit. If there are trucks next to the AAA firing, it refuses to target the AAA. I would expect the AAA firing to be at the top of the target list and not at the bottom (it often isn't there).

2. Ai cannot see the JTAC smoke signal. If the unit is near a forest or in a city, it doesn't matter if the colored smoke can be seen for miles. Ai "searches" all the trees in the forest and buildings in the city, she doesn't primarily look around the marked location, so she may find the unit after searching everything in sight.

3. Ai It cannot see and therefore will not target a partially damaged unit. I was killed several times by an M1A2, M2A2 and a Gepard, which had red health, but the AI did not see them even after repeated approaches until they shot me down with a machine gun / cannon.

4. Ai can swap an enemy target with a friendly helicopter. All she has to do is momentarily lose sight of the marked enemy and if another helicopter is nearby , Ai will continue tracking it. Ai won't even tell you that she's already tracking another target.

(If you want to argue that this doesn't happen to you, it's just that you don't use the Mi-24 for combat.)

I had this experienced, but it is far from a constant problem. To me at least. If I deselect a truck it normally find another target.
that said in servers I been at , he is more reluctant to find some of the AAA

like the 57 mm and so on , with no problem what so ever finding sterla.
I know one problem earlier was that some targets had some invisible obstacles infront of them rendering Petro to not see them.
The complains about George in that matter is louder and more often. I think the problems lies in the core , maps and AI behaviour more than in the modules itself

If George has a problem, he just needs to turn on the FCR radar, which can find and shoot at targets in the bushes.
