This is an age-old problem with FC3 aircraft.

Could the ControlsIndicator.lua file be added to FC3 aircraft? This will help people with multi-monitors to place that overlay in to a visible part of the screen. The location of mine is buried in the bottom right corner of the total screen resolution, out of the normal view from my multi-monitor config.

I see that the FC 2024 aircraft (F-86, F-5, and MiG-15) have a ControlsIndicator folder that allows the user to edit them.

What are the obstacles that would prevent this from happening? Could the user be allowed to change the position of this overlay, pretty please and with sugar on top?

Yeah, and let's have the setting in Saved Games!

This is an example of my display setup. The Controls Indicator overlay is in the bottom right corner of the total screen resolution. Its placement is outside the visible viewing area of my additional monitors, presented by the yellow frame. The file attachment was scaled down for space-saving purposes. Placement of the overlay could go in any corner of the main display or in the visible viewing area. A lua file that would manipulate its position would be preferred, however, using a function similar to the SA-342 Gazelle would be another potential solution. That module gives you the choice of corner to place the overlay.

Bumping the thread for increased visibility. I'd like to explore the potential to reposition the ControlsIndicator overlay for FC3 aircraft AND not break integrity check. This will help many of us with multi-monitor displays.

The problem with the UI elements and multi-monitor use is that the position and scaling is based off of and references the entire "screenspace"in the lua files (as you know). Ideally it should be confined to what is designated as "viewport.center"... the main display for the game. Kneeboard, controls indicator, crew indicator etc all affected .. Why they aren't changeable options like the chat window and messages, who knows. Unfortunately, multi-monitor setups are at the very bottom of their list. Plenty of people have been screaming for literal years to make changes to allow more viewports exportable, change location of UI elements, make exports not break IC etc.. truth is ED doesn't care one bit about this part of the "core", hate to say it, but its very obvious. Addressing  these things doesn't make them $$$ so the chances of them working on it is next to nothing. They have their own roadmap and vision and the low thousands of users ( based of the number of users of the Helios discord as a baseline) isn't strong enough for them to waste time on. Trust me, I would LOVE to be proven wrong as I'm a huge advocate for multi-monitor use, exporting etc etc, but I quit holding my breath long ago.

@MadKreator, et al:

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. When more people complain about an issue then the higher priority it becomes. One of my arguments to enable users the ability to modify the overlay location: the ControlsIndicator overlay for FC 2024 aircraft has a file that can be edited.

While many of us share your sentiment regarding ED's priority for improvements, the more users get involved would help resolve these long (or very long) standing issues. Feel free to share this thread with other multi-monitor users flying FC3 aircraft.

For the forum moderators: I provided at least 2 options to potentially solve this problem. @Eagle Dynamics, shall we talk about this topic some more?

I agree the UI elements need to be configurable, in some way.  All aircraft are affected the same. Fc3 and full fidelity, alike. It would be a welcome change, for sure. I don't use the controls indicator, but the kneeboard and crew indicators for helis are big on my personal list of wants. I edit them anyway to size and place them where I want but it would be nice not to have to mess with editing the core lua files to do so.
