Ladan Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I feel that the shadows on the mountains in Nevada are too dark and artificial. Could this be improved? Make them like the mountain shadows in PG, which look natural? Other than that I love the scenery of the strip in Vegas. 1
Bob1943 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Here is a late afternoon picture that I took from the backseat of an F-4 as we were turning into the traffic pattern at Nellis in 1968. You can see the ends of Runways 03L and 03R and the shadows on the Sunrise Mountain at the right side of the photo. Poor quality photo, but it might give you a benchmark for comparison. 4 1

Something being old is not the same as being abandoned, I'm pretty sure it is being maintained or it wouldn't work on the current DCS version ... maybe you mean that no new features nor tech changes is the same as being abandoned, it is not. 4 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Yeah it needs fixing. To me imho, it looks so artificial. Shadows need to be natural looking. Just saying. 1

What ED could do is a remastered version of this Map using the newest map tech, like a Nevada 2.0, with a price that cover the man-hours needed for such a project. But I'm sure that ED has already considered a Nevada 2.0 and estimated just how many of its current customers would purchase it, on my own case I'm not sure if having better shadows, better mesh, and better night lighting would compensate the fact that it would not benefit any of the current campaigns that I own for Nevada, and the fact that my own missions would need to be redone if I wanted them on this new map. Most likely that's why ED has not come up with such a project yet: probably there are not enough people willing to pay the cost, they'd rather invest the $$$ on totally new maps, like Vietnam or Korea or even the Balkans. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Well if they ever make it, and if it will help improve the very dark shadows... . 1
