Snacko Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I've had a shortcut to go straight into VR using the mt-bin/dcs.exe for quite a while. I tried to use it the other day and now it's failing. It just goes into 2D. Here are the parameters I have been using. Does anyone know what the problem might be?? --force_enable_vr --no-launcher Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download

Is there anyone else who can answer my OP? As long as VR headsets is enabled in the DCS config then it will always attempt to launch VR, don’t need special shortcut params for it. It’ll only use 2D if it can’t find a connected headset, or if your VR runtime is broken (check the log). Do you have one shortcut for VR and one for non-VR then? Does it start in VR just fine if you do use the launcher, or enable VR headsets in the config (which is what the launcher does automatically when you select the man with the goggles) or it’s only ever 2D, in which case the param isn’t the issue? Have you updated DCS since this param was working? Also use the DCS.exe in bin and not bin-mt (they’re both multithreaded now and bin-mt is going away in the future). Maybe the param works there (they should be identical though), I haven’t retested with the param. Edited May 8 by sleighzy 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
zildac Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) I have two shortcuts, one for VR and one for Pancake, they still appear to work. EDIT: Just noticed my "start in" is incorrect, but it works, as the MT binary is the default these days. null Edited May 9 by zildac 1 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 9 ED Team Posted May 9 Yes should work still, the bin-mt is just a copy of the bin folder. Its best to start ignoring the bin-mt folder as it will be removed in the future. 3 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Mr_sukebe Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Ref using shortcuts for either VR or Monitor, my solution is to use the rather excellent DCS Updater/Launcher App by Skatezilla. 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
Snacko Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Ok, I found the problem. The parameters are (from some reason) case sensitive!!! I had --force_enable_vr, not --force_enable_VR!!? Any good coder knows to change the case to Upper or Lower before any comparison that doesn't need to depend on the case of the letters. It's just a standard to reduce user errors, trouble tickets, threads like this. Oh well, after 3 weeks I figured it out. 1 Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
