I'm curious about the HDD display features: in FC module that's only an (almost useless) HUD repeater.

Dunno how it works in real life, but can we expect some other functions in the Full-Fi module?

That's correct. The display doesn't offer any other features.

Exactly one function! The exact same way it skews rounds of cannon, it can also display the bar of the radar search of pattern. This way you r be able to tell if a target is being detected at the top, middle, or bottom of the search pattern.

However you k ow the whole right border of the HUD? With the carat that shows radar elevation and compares it with pitch so you can see if radar is looking straight ahead or below/above the HUD? Well…… it will only be shown on HDD. No right border or radar/HUD elevation carats on HUD.

It was also supposed to display datalink the same way Su-27 does

Yes, they just cut the package for money conserving reasons(and probably for computer production bandwidth). But it was intended to be like Su-27 unitially.

Well the datalink that Su-27 uses to make that nice display also requires a specific box. It’s possible there wasn’t space for the box on the MiG-29

IMHO, it's more likely that it makes no sense for the MiG-29A given its short range, only 2 BVR missiles and the G-limits with an asymmetric R-27 loadout.

It's more than enough to guide it to a single target via GCI that it will engage with both BVR missiles and finish off or engage any targets of opportunity with Archers before turning back as it's running out of fuel already.

It's also possible it wasn't quite ready on time, Su-27 came a bit later. The datalink would have been useful, just less important given the MiG-29's role.

In the game we have the datalink toggle in the "on" position, hehe

IRL the DL was planned, it's just that the USSR collapsed before the plans were fulfilled

Seems like DL was installed into Su-27s in the first place, but still, not all of the 27s managed to get it before 1991
