KidBomba Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Hello, I have learned to turn on the black shark blindfolded :) yay!! And I can hover and move the thing around. What puzzles me is the autopilot (heading, pitch, bank) sometimes, they start to blink and w/o warning they turn off (or is there a warning)? whats the reason behind this and how what is your advice to make sure they stay on? also sometimes, I cant even turn them on! (I just know that when those AP go off, BS goes wild , uncontrollable at times and thats the end...basically....the few times I recover......I manage to turn them back on and everything is normal again). Cheers :pilotfly::smartass: Edited August 8, 2009 by KidBomba
LKNANML Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 1. To low... I think it's about 4m from the ground they can turn off.. 2. Damage from being shot or pushing the heli to far out of the envelope. Few others I can't find in my book right now
nemises Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 yeah , it happens, though I've never been too happy with the explainations as to why. The few times it's hapenned to me I notice it generally tends to be when I am in auto hover, and have (accidentally or otherwise) trimmed in too much rudder, + am using auto-turn to target mode, and the shkval reticle slps out of the shkval fov. I might go on a bit of a manhunt next week to try and pin down the exact set of circumstances...one think i know is I'm not below 4 Mtrs .. ...could be a function of low RPM, though I'm pretty sure the autopilots are driven off the DC bus (ie batteries) ...

Same here. Is it an idiosincracy of Ka-50 AP function or some kind of bug? Auto-hover + auto-turn and target lock off shkavl fov sometimes disengage AP channels.
Arclight Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Loosing hydraulic pressure causes it too, if I recall correctly. Either from combat damage or forgetting to switch it on (lower right on auxiliary control panel). No hydraulics, no AP apparently. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'. (yes, corny. Sorry.)
