Since trying to use the radios more realistically, I’ve realised unless an asset has had their radio freqs entered in the briefing, it’s impossible to find out what they are.

Currently playing a campaign which has all radio stations on a kneeboard page, and each tuned to a preset.  It would be amazing if a similar kneeboard page could be automatically generated.  I used to use some of the kneeboard pages from Kneeboard Builder, which would generate all assets tacan and radio freqs, but I just can't seem to get this to work anymore - but it shows that the ability is there.

Edited to add - just played the F16 QuickStart Marianas mission (guns only) and once completed @Wags suggests landing - but there’s no way to contact any airfield.  Obviously not a massive problem but just another example of how lost you can be without freq info.

I would like to see an integrated knee board editing tool inside the mission editor. Right now you either have to use a third party editor or go deep into various directories and add graphic files etc. to the individual aircraft. I would like to be able to create custom boards for each flight group that has different rolls in M-Player.

Absolutely. The kneeboard is horribly user unfriendly for how important it is.

The kneeboard could always be improved, but horrible? really?

The original DCS kneeboard was indeed ugly:

but ED has improved it quite a lot, giving it the ability to be resized and re-positioned, mouse control (the original used only keybinds), as well as the ability to add tabs to it:

I'd love to add more features to it, like remembering its last position and size (per aircraft if possible), as well as a more comprehensive set of default tabs (one for the mission KB,  user KB, default aircraft KB, dynamic map KB and the Map charts KB ... but calling it horrible seems a bit much and probably only serves to discourage the developers 😞

Yes! I agree that the KB is more usable but it's how all these things are created and edited that I have a rub with. They need to give us a tool within the Editor that allows mission creators to easily put things into it.

It is not horrible, it is horribly unfriendly, and I don't think that's hyperbole. An interface for it should exist in the ME at the very least. Having to manually edit files is very tedious and not the most obvious way of getting the kneedboard setup. The mission editor briefing at least used to allow a simpler option of somewhat replicating the kneeboard for less effort (but also less capability) but then for whatever reason a forced paused was added to that making realistic use of it impossible. Thankfully that can be disabled through Lua editing, but for whatever reason it remains overly difficult to get simple mission information presented to pilots in a realistic way.

On my case I write my kneeboards using a word processor and I’ve seen other people using PowerPoint, somehow I doubt ED could integrate such tools on the ME
