Hi everyone, 

It took the best part of 3 days… Besides the retouching it has been fairly difficult to find which .DDS file

does what. In fact, as per description.lua some 2K are used from

DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\default in 2K, (false)

Others in 4K are used from:

DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F4U1D\Shapes\Textures\Cockpit_F4U-1D.zip (true)

If you ask me I find this quite complicated, and so the 2K cockpits load huge 4K files present in that .zip 

Don’t see the advantage…. Quite the contrary.  

Anyhow, here it comes… Well, as soon as the files are revised by the moderator in DCS and become active…..

Clean (ish) / restored Corsair cockpit for the wonderful Magnitude 3 Corsair.

Important! BACKUP your files / foders first in

DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\Default

Then replace

DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\Default

Decompressing this “Default” folder in its place, a cockpit named “AC” will appear inside DCS in Options > Special > F4U-1D.

Unfortunately I could not compress the files to less of the upload limit of 300 Mb, so I had to split in two parts.

Just decompress part 1 and two in one single folder “Default” as described above.

Sorry I do not have Track IR, but anyway, what does this have to do with my retouched cockpit?

AC5, thank you for the beautiful new(ish) cockpit! You have done a wonderful job on it. I have only one suggestion, should you ever decide to revisit this project, and that would be to repaint the Tailhook lever knob either silver(aluminum) or white or some color that would make it stand out from the arc it is in front of. The position of the lever is the only indication you have in the cockpit of what position the tailhook is in. It's not a huge deal but something you might think of next time around, in case there is a next time. Other than that, it's beautifully done and very user friendly! Thanks again

I do and that problem was not evident in my installation.

Hi, with the original cabin the problem does not occur, but with your repainted one it does, so the problem is in your mod.

Sorry about that. But as I said, as I don't have track ir, I can not tackle the problem.

Please stick with the original cockpit.... But BTW, see above.. AG-51_Razor has got Track IR and does not have this problem...

I have seen what you mean with the Tailhook lever knob, 

but could not find the file / texture responsable for it.

If you can point me out to that texture / file I'd be glad to correct it for you.

AC5, I am a total dweeb when it comes to graphics and knowing that, I can't complain about other folks' work such as yours. I am very happy to deal with having to squint at just the tailhook lever rather than every placard and switch label in the cockpit! Thanks again for all of your work.

Hi AG-51_Razor, hello everyone,

I have found that tailhook lever knob, now it is a bright red!

Just replace the existing file with the one in the attachment....

I’ve had this Elite Force model hanging above my PC for many years.  I love the yellow cowl ring and prop tips.  I have no clue about the historical accuracy of this livery, but noticed that in DCS it is only available on the mk.IV variant.  If this one was accurate, I’d love to see it for the US variant in DCS .  I’m thinking perhaps this is not an accurate livery, but I have no clue and would love to know more about it if it is.  If anyone knows, let me know

Look in the livery list in-game. 

VF-84 Wolf Gang with Bunker Hill carrier markings.  Yellow cowl ring designated participation in the Tokyo Raids.

With the last dcs update (of course...) the new cockpit texture folder got overwritten, so ive now made a copy in saved games path. Yet to test it but fingers crossed it wont get overwritten again with the next update.  [edit]ok did not work, but worth a try! As reported earlier the cockpit texture files only seem to be read when they are in the main dcs directory path, but at least I have a copy here to transplant back over when the next update wipes them again

Well, this is odd, and the usual backup file which is made every time DCS

updates to a new version does not contain the textures, only my modified .LUA file…!

Also, including my clean cockpit in:

C:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\default

Or:

C:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\AC

Is to no avail.

Only option is putting ALL my cockpit files in:

D:\Games\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F4U-1D\Liveries\Cockpit_F4U-1D\default

So it works. Though again, very odd thing, if other cockpits than my “AC”

are selected, they don’t appear, in any case only my clean cockpit appears. Go figure…

Do backup it in case, though alternatively, you can still re-download it. Cheers.
