Charley Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I tried the carrier landing training mission a month or so ago & thought I would repeat it because I'm trying to practice my landings. This time, since the last update, I'm wondering if the training instructions need to be updated too. They say to close the cowl flaps & there is no mention of the oil cooler flap, which is closed. A few times doing this training mission my engine quickly seizes up before I can get to the carrier. Are these settings correct for a carrier landing? 1

Either way, check your temps. You cannot keep the coolers closed if you eventually overheat your engine.
GTFreeFlyer Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Duplicate thread. Lots of discussion already. Have a quick look at the long discussions in the other threads. In short, no. Things have changed since the training missions were made. You need cowl and oil flaps open otherwise you’ll overheat. 1 My DCS Missions: Band of Buds series | The End of the T-55 Era | Normandy PvP | Host of the Formation Flight Challenge server Supercarrier Reference Kneeboards IRL: Private Pilot, UAS Test Pilot, Aircraft Designer, and... eh hem... Charley Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Thanks, I saw that the engine management has already been discussed. I guess I just just wanted to point out that these training instructions from the developer are very incorrect. 1

The tutorials don’t follow the current state of the module. They follow real world instructions. BTW closing your oil coolers is probably a bad idea. 2 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
