swift Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I'm in the process of adding new functionality to the mission editor coding in LUA. Actually I managed to modify the GUI adding a new button/panel that when pressed it'll clone the selected group of helicopters creating a new group (type, skills, waypoints, payloads, targets). I got other ideas but before I go further I would like to know if the release of this kind of modifications are allowed by Eagle Dynamics. Regards. 2
EvilBivol-1 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Looking forward to your work! I've been eagerly waiting for somebody to begin exploring the possibilities of mission editor/campaign generation possible with LUA. I don't think ED will place any restrictions on your work as long as you are not selling it for profit without ED's agreement. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Oh, wait ... not going to do that sexchange quite yet ... Still love to see some new improvements for the ME, indeed. ;) The mind is like a parachute. joey45 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 mmmm, interesting. Would like to follow this. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. jimiC Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 wow dude if u can do this i will be very impressed. i have a lot Mission editor changes i want to see as well.
swift Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Thanks for the support :) A side? effect of the mission editor/campaign editor coded in LUA, is that the end user can modify it adding new parts to the interface and features. Although the missions generated by DCS are rather easy to read and even understand there is new approach to the mission programming interface in the series; you can code inside the mission editor and interact directly with the LUA mission objects instead of loosing time parsing the mission configuration file, generating a new one and maintain the whole structure in future versions regardless the programming languaje you choose. The mission editor code is very well designed and implemented, allowing advanced users to play with it. ED should promote more on this and release more tech information ;) Congrats to the Dev team for choosing this open design and encourage to make it in even more vital parts of the sim. I'm sure that in the future this will bring exciting user content to the community. 2
S77th-ReOrdain Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 This sounds like a good endeavor. Best of luck with your efforts. A really helpful feature would be the ability to select multiple units by some method and then copy/paste them within the current mission and/or other missions. This method would need to go beyond the template creation function so that units of varying types can be selected together.

trujillostm Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Hi. I'm creating my own dcs scenery. I'm using aero-photos of my country. You can see my thread on the forum "Mods and Addons". The map of Mission Editor is very different to ABRIS and F10 view. I want to place objects in perfect position. Can you create a new Mission Editor tool?
