guitarxe Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I saw this video and AI CPG is locking up targets no problem, but when I try it he never sees them. Is this possible or is this guy using some kind of hacks in this movie?
admiki Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) I don't know how latest version of DCS Hind works, but earlier night engagements were possible with illumination rockets. We would either work in pairs, with one bird illuminating and other shooting, then switching roles, or you can illuminate for yourself, but it really does not give plenty of time to engage targets. EDIT: After quick test, Petrovich found target with half moon. With no moon he was not able to find that same target. I'm not sure whether this is a bug, since even the best optics in the world will have some percent of light attenuation and I don't think Soviets put the best optics in Mi-24. @BIGNEWYcan you check with the team if this is a bug or not? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 22 ED Team Posted September 22 Hi, I dont think this is a bug, it is a day attack helicopter as far as I am aware, but I will check with the team. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Just use flares to target at night now Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
guitarxe Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 Thanks! Illumination rockets are lots of fun! Actually, flying this thing at night in general is a lot of fun! Also I tried what you suggested, full moon vs half moon. What I noticed is that with half moon the AI CPG is able to see targets around the same distance, but is not able to identify what they are (just says "ground"). He gets identity of them at about half distance of when full moon. Also has anyone noticed how gorgeous the game has become with the new volumetric clouds? I had rain and thick clouds, and you can actually see the light glow from distant city lights on the clouds it's really cool! Also the taxi/landing light in the cloud soup look great nullnullnull 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 24 ED Team Posted September 24 Hi all, I have checked with the team. DCS calculates illumination not time of day, if the target area is illuminated Petrovich will see targets, of course there are different lighting conditions so it wont always be perfect for spotting targets at night in illuminated areas. Please remember the Mi-24p is not a night attack helicopter. If you still think there is a problem its best to attach short track replays thank you 1 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
